RMM:

Good story. I enjoyed your post.

I was at Office Max tonight and looked at the printers. The Epson Artisan 835 had a snazzy touch screen and did a good job at scanning a brochure. The text was decent, although it was from the scanned image and not a text file or website. Don't know if these are refillable of if there is a CISS.

Saw the new HP Photosmart eStation e-All-in-One Printer - C510a which has a detachable wireless ipad like device that you can surf the net and control printing. (http://www.shopping.hp.com/product/printer/all-in-one/1/storefronts/CQ140A%23B1H - check out the product demo) You'll have to wait a while for your price break. :)

I think my post about meritline 225 and 226 cartridges got deleted, I'm not advertising them, just want to know if anybody has used them and what they thought?

Is it me or did this post sort of divert from the original thread...

*oops*... perhaps a split is in order?

Seems most people here aren't using ink of unknown manufacture. Meritline probably uses the cheap ink they can get which most likely gives sub par performance. Also, most here will eschew transferring chips when they can use OEM cartridges to refill and refill them for one third the cost of those Meritline cartridges. Additionally, the Meritline cartridge is non-OEM, something most here avoid completely for performance reasons when refilling.

So, I understand the CLI-226/526 and PGI-225/525 replace the CLI-221/521 and PGI-220/520 cartridges.

I have an MP640 printer and in the future will have to buy the new cartridges, when I can no longer refill my current ones.

Two questions that come to mind are:

- Are the new printers that come with the 226/225 cartridges (IP4850, MG8150, 6150, 5250,...) compatible with the "old" 221/220 cartridges or do they only work with the new ones? With compatible I mean both mechanically (does the cartridge fit in the tray) and electronically (does the printer accept the chip).
- Can the chips of the old 221/220 cartridges be remounted on the new 226/225 cartridges?

I am stacking up on empty 521/520 cartridges now to ensure I have enough chips.

Thanks for reading this...

The question of the 520/521 cartridges fitting/working with the new generation Canon printers has being asked before on this forum but no one has come back with an answer yet.
That idea came about because the 520s are not completely opaque and could be refilled easier.
But the answer as to whether you can mount 220/221 chips on the new cartridges are concerned.
Forget it the new chips are worlds apart, but maybe these new chips will work on the older 520s cartridges..

Looks Like Canon just shot themselves in the pocket book! Makes a guy wonder if these companies will ever learn!
