I must say the pattern of Australian weather puzzles me, why is it coming up from the south, where is the hot air coming from in the first place.

It's like our receiving a heatwave from Scotland, highly unlikely. I suppose your latitude is equivalent to Spain, but 50 degrees in Tasmania!

P.S. On the TV news this evening, we had a long shot of Brisbane city, from high ground, described and looking as, being in a smoke haze.

It's strange down here because in the tropical regions, the top half of Oz the temps seem more constant especially along the coastal regions whereas the supposedly cooler bottom half tends to get swings from lowish summer temps to very high temps & our temp up here are more evenly constant.
The temps in Tasmania are a shock & I think very unexpected & should wake up people to do something about man made climate change.
Forgot to say the smoke over Brissie was from a fire on Bribie Island about 50-60Klms north being blown down on the wind.

It was an Amazon item, when the clock struck twelve, the gimbal mount arrived with a bent control shaft. Sent it back and received a full refund. Ordered the same item from a different supplier, it arrived in good condition, so we all lived happily ever after.

Its a pity about the cottages in the background, it spoils the whole shot.
The camera man wasnt too clever..

Sorry Emu that shot is a very nice cliche lacking a real mood for me as the tones are too even across the shot. It's more of a straight shot of beautiful countryside with no input from the photographer.
Be careful with relaxing photos they can put you to sleep
