Windows 10 Free Update Offer

I think I'll move on to win7 now, as the free upgrade to 10 has already shown up on my wife's win7 computer and will undoubtedly do the same on my new one. I can cruise along with 7 until we have solid reporting of all my old printers working on 10.
Win 7 will be updated until 2020. The free update to Win 10 will be available for 1 year beginning July 29, 2015, the roll out of Win 10, so no rush to update.

Speaking of updates, I just read that Windows Update is revamped in Win 10 and users will not be able to pick and choose which updates to download and install but will still be able to uninstall individual updates. You can delay updates but not forever. Probably won't matter to most people who let Windows update automatically, but for those who don't...

I am still using Photoshop 7.0 (2002?). I had no problem installing it on win 7 64 bit, but I wonder what happens on win 10...

Funny that because I periodically use Photoshop 7 to do the odd job, I mainly use Photoshop 11 32 bit and 64 bit, all work with Win 7 flawlessly.

Not a whisper about Win 10! No down load here on the basis of the reservation.

I just installed Windows 10 twice on both my native Shuttle and iMac in virtual box upgrading my previous Windows 7.

A few notes: always check updates during upgrade + use an USB-stick + choose the right version of your windows, that is: when you have an english version with a german language pack on top of it, DO NOT install the german version but the english version....the update to Windows 10 will take care of it and you will neatly end with the previous german interface.

I am looking at putting Win 8 on my second PC now to ease the transition to Win 10 when I finally decide to jump that is, I reckon it will be towards the end of the year.

I just want to see what programs will work and if my printers, scanner and camera can function as they do now, one of my PC's is already on Win 8 but doesn’t have nearly as many programs and Apps. on it as my main one does.

I intend to back up the lot first..

As usually must reinstall all programs thats was installed in win 8.1 64 bit ??
