Hello Everyone, I've been reading alot from this Forums and I must say, The knowledge I've learned from everyone is priceless.
I've been trying to make my L1800 is not working properly.
I dont have much as far as resources are concerned and this workhorse printer has been earning me to make ends meet. I need to make it work.
During a decolgging session, I am guessing the connecting port to the head got wet and shorted. However I am not sure.
Currently the printer does turn on, prints but no ink comes out. When i power flush the ink comes out of the tank. I'm sure the heads are clean but again nothing comes out.
I have tested the main board and checked on F1 (which someone told me is the fuse for the board) and a multitester registers continuity. which i suppose means the fuse is intact along with the board. I also checked the flex cable that goes to the printhead, it looks like there is a burnt out part, however the tested registers for continuity.
Which leads me to conclude that the Printer head is faulty?
I'm wary of trying out a new head as it may just end up shorting it.
Questions:
1. Is there a way to check on error code if the printerhead is shorted?
2. Is there a way to solder or repair the printerhead? Obviously I am trying to save money
3. I've seen China copy cat printheads out there , are they worth it ?
here are some pictures of my work. See attached.
