I am printing with ink refills and have recently noticed that on the Canon Pro luster paper i am using. I get vertical bands or faint lines on the print and one darker wide line that looks like magenta. I went through all the printer maintenance cleaning processes including the plate cleaning with no resolve. I do see banding on the photo magenta nozzle check and that might be the problem. Maybe that nozzle is plugged or maybe its the print head. Suggestions would be appreciated.

OK @deccma, could you post a small section of your print showing the problem area and also a nozzle check so we can make a better judgment on your problems..

Hi Hat
Yes I agree I should have thought of doing that when I posted. I am on travel. At the moment. I will scan and post a print when I get back next Sat. By the way , per your past suggestion that I do precision color refills, I have been very satisfied with print quality and just updated to the new ink. But that has nothing to do with my problem as I had noticed the problem prior the change. Thank you for the help.

That's fine. I am on travel and will get home late on Sat. I will scan a photo that hopefully will show my problem. I hope someone will be able to post a solution. Are you also having the same issue with your printer?

Hi Deccma, No, as of yet I have not experienced the problem but I like to read all the post on the Pro 100 just in case I do encounter the same problems. Hope you are enjoying your trip.

I am posting a print showing the color stripes that are showing on my prints. I am printing on Canon pro Luster Lu101 paper usingPrint the portrait mode on letter size paper. I am using the new Precision color dye inks that I just changed over to, However this problem was also noted prior to change over to the new inks.

Photo Nozzle check printed on pro luster Lu101 paper The only problem that I see areView attachment 2903 bands in the PM ink.

Photo of Sailboats has vertical stripes that run through the photo that are evident in the sky. It appears to me they are color magenta. Some heavier bands on the right and left side of the photo and smaller vertical stripes through the sky across the whole print.

OK @deccma, I don’t have a clue as to what is happening in your sail boat Pic right now, but you’re more a mediate problem is your Photo Magenta in your nozzle print, by the way you can print the nozzle check on plain paper, and there is no need to waste your good photo paper on it.

First thing first what ever you do DON’T print anymore photos till you can resolve the problem your having with your P/Magenta, nozzle checks are quite alright to print nothing else please.

I’d suggest you soak the print head in warm water and a spoonful of Dreft washing up liquid and plenty of Windex (Window cleaner), warm the mixture up in the microwave for a few seconds (Hand warm).

Leave the head to soak over night and then rinse in soft water, then dry it thoroughly somewhere warm before reinstalling back into the printer.

Hopefully we have caught it in time and the nozzles were not damaged at all, and it will show a good second nozzle check print for you.

When you have sorted out the P/Magenta then we can look at your other print quality issue, so please report back when you have done that bit of maintenance, fingers crossed..

All of them! LOL
Folks. The reason Magenta and Photo Magenta has been replaced ( If the OP is using PC inks ) is because of this very problem. The OP says he is using refills. What refills? His own refilled OEM carts? If so with what inks? If they are from the Image Specialists original source the PC was using, then that is a problem and that is why it's been replaced with Magentas from a different source!!!!

The clogs that have affected the magenta heads are not regular clogs as we know them. Such no amount of soaking or treatment will "Unclog" them. If that is indeed the case then a change to a fresh set of empty CLI-42 magenta and photo magenta carts filled with the new replacement inks PLUS a new print head will solve the problem.

Sorry to be the bearer of possible bad news.

Joe
