To those who question my printhead clogging with MIS ink, I am not the only one. Granddad will not use MIS because he has had the same problem.
As for which is the problem color, it is actually the CYAN and sometimes MAGENTA.
The BCI3e BLACK is no problem. I believe that the IP5000 uses...
To Inez:
I have two IP5000 that I use a lot. I would not recommend MIS ink for this printer, my printhead has clogged every time I have used it. Just remember that the IP5000 is a 1-picoliter printer and it will clog easier than the other Canon printers. Others have had the same experience with...
To Mooskeeto:
I have encountered the same problem and the cause was e defective cartridge, in your case either the yellow or the black, more likely the black.
Another cause may be the rubber seals in the printhead. With time they may get slightly compressed, therefore not pressing has hard on...
To STEVEDRINK:
You may be using cartridges manufactured by SkyHorse, they have a problem for many users.
Look at this thread, it has very good photos of what the problem is.
Refillable CanonBCI 3/6 series cartridge with lots of features
Good luck

Wippy:
What brand of paper are you using?
I find that different brands give different tints.
Also are you using original Canon ink or any other brand?
Are you setting the printer on Auto or Photo setting, Vivid, Optimized Etch?
It can all give you different shades.
Sometimes if the...
To ULTRAVIOLET353:
The black ink from Costco is not a pigment ink, it is a dye ink, that is why it is not as dark.
I use dye ink for all my prints, they do come out a little less lighter, but, if you print on photos on plain paper or premium plain paper, you would get better results.
I also...
To RVD:
BCI-3 and BCI-3e are different inks. If I am not mistaken, BCI-3 is a dye ink and BCI-3e is a pigment ink. Also the shades are different.
I use BCI-6 on all my black cartridges. I find that if I print using the plain paper setting, the blacks dont come up dull. Also the dye ink has a...
Try Ebay.
The other day I was looking for a printer and a came across a seller that was offering every type of service manual on printers.
I do not remember the name, but it was on Ebay in the USA, and they were reasonable.
Good luck

To Pebe:
You are correct about the top of the sponge getting dry and not allowing the air to flow freely.
I keep a long stainless needle next to my printer, and I find that it helps if once in a while I punch holes in the sponge from the venting hole.
I also think that there is a difference...
The problem is with the aftermarket ink manufacturers.
If they were intelligent they would go on forums such as this one, and see that the problem is with printer profiles matching their ink.
If I was running one of the major ink companies, I would make sure that I had printer profile...
To OCULAR:
I have had problems with both, BCI-3 and BCI-6. The cartridges are identical, and it does not matter what printer you are using, I have tried them on I-960, I-860 and IP-5000. the dimensions of the printhead are the same.
As for the Acujet cartridges, they are with the sponge, but I...
To OCULAR:
I have experienced the same problem you described in your posted photo.
I have mentioned to the distributor, but they wanted me to mail them a sample of the AcuJet cartridges to compare. As far as I am concerned, they can purchase the AcuJet themselves if they want to compare.
I...
As far as people with printhead problems on this forum I find nothing unusual about that. I have had clogging problems with OEM cartridges and NON-OEM ones. The difference is that on this forum you will find people that are willing and ready to help, instead of sending you to a canon authorized...
The problem is not with Formulabs, but with Canon.
Canon continues to change their printer drivers. For example for those who two or three Canon printers will notice that the i860 prints more towards the green, while the i960 prints more towards the red and the ip5000 is more balanced.
What...
To Stephenfs:
The brand with the longer nozzles are AcuJet brand. They cost about double but I refill my empties from them about 30 times without any problems.
Robert
Some of the banding problems are caused by a combination if printhead seals and cartridge design.
I was getting a huge banding problem using brand new cartridges, but when I switched to a different brand of empties, the problem went away.
O n examining the cartridges, I noticed that one brand...
I looked at the sample, and I can tell you that it is impossible to test ink with that method.
You must put the ink in a printer, purge the printhead and the print the samples. Even then it is quite impossible to tell, unless you print an image that mixes colors.

To Josoonster:
Formulabs just cancelled one of their magenta production for that reason, the prints were to reddish-magenta.
You should find out from the vendor which magenta they sold you, is it the magenta (IJC-4424) or (IJC-4420). If it is the 4424, that was discontinued, as I mentioned...
