Epson TX111 with CISS: ink cartridges cannot be recognised

So it is mast certainly a contact problem. Personally I'd clean and bend the little electrodes to try fixing it. But then again I have a HUGE stack of spare printers. YMMV

Epson TX111 with CISS: ink cartridges cannot be recognised

I had that problem a couple times with my CX7400s. Wiggling and re-seating worked in one case and the other time pressing the reset buttin on the CIS PCB fixed it.

Waste ink: To anyone who resets and pretends it's disappeared

Yeah... inquiring minds want to know. I has a "black puddle' issue with one of my Epson R200 but it was due to screwing around with refills back when I had no clue what I was doing. It's been so long since I took one apart I forgot what they look like inside. Do they have purge pumps that are...

Ebay flooded by cheap Chinese ink

I've had EXTREMELY good luck with Ebay chinese CIS. And it don't hurt much they were $20 shipped instead of $75.

Refills/CIS going the way of the dinosaur?

Anybody catch the latest flood of printer ads on TV? Specially Kodak and Lexmark. They go on-and-on about how the new product don't screw you on ink anymore... penny a page they say. I wonder if this will have any effect on the ones that still try to get away $50 carts with 1cc of ink. :)

How to install an external waste ink tank on a Canon MP780 (or MP760)

I was being sarcastic (should use proper emoticon :) ). It just strikes me that the less you have to remove and fill cartridges the better. The only Canon using CIS is beginning to act up now. Horizontal pink bands every inch. Sounds like cyan is clogged or a supply problem. Tanks are full...

Refilling a CISS or buy a new one?

I installed a couple dozen Epson CIS now and only buy new CIS because it only costs a couple bucks more than the ink itself. I just swap tubes at the tanks and don't remove the carts which is good because removing carts is what causes trouble for me. Getting quite a stock of extra carts/chips...

How to install an external waste ink tank on a Canon MP780 (or MP760)

Yeah, why would any same person want that? It's beginning to look like those who dislike CISS the most are people who make money refilling carts. :)

    20 gauge 3 long needles?

I think that is an unrealistic request considering shipping. Octoinkjet was best deal for bottles with needles and they were colored too. Even lower cost than domestic dealers.

Is this cis compatible with px710w

I agree. I've had extremely good luck with the two dozen or so CIS sellers on Ebay. In some cases as low as $22 which is about 1/3 some of the ones recommended here. Only had a problem with one and the vendor sent me a replacement that did work w/o me having to return the bad one. IMO if...

    Cleaning Solution - Canon PGI-5 & CLI-8 Cartridge Flush

Thanks for the input. This forum is a goldmine of info and much food for thought. Fortunately I never remove carts when refilling on the Canon so German vs Traditional is never a choice.

    Cleaning Solution - Canon PGI-5 & CLI-8 Cartridge Flush

Yes, that is my idea of a superior cleaning solution. And about 1/10th the cost of commercial product. Can I ask what is the difference between conditioning and cleaning?

    Cleaning Solution - Canon PGI-5 & CLI-8 Cartridge Flush

I'm not sure about Canon but have been using anti-freeze with over a dozen Epsons for almost 3 years now and no problems. It worked much better than plain water. 70% isopropyl was worst of all.

    Cleaning Solution - Canon PGI-5 & CLI-8 Cartridge Flush

Why not say "don't use anti-freeze in your car". There are so many agents far more poisions it is not risky by comparison. With an LD50 in the order of 1g/kg you'd have to drink a gallon or so of cleaning fluid to get in trouble. When I said "touch" I meant maybe 1%. 50:50 would not make good...

    Cleaning Solution - Canon PGI-5 & CLI-8 Cartridge Flush

I suspect propylene glycol and glycerin which is even less toxic would work too. Regular anti-freeze is easiest to obtain though and is what was listed in the two (expensive) inkjet cleaning fluids I was able to obtain MSDS for. Some have mixed from scratch using water, glycol, alcohol...

    Cleaning Solution - Canon PGI-5 & CLI-8 Cartridge Flush

Not sure about Canon but Windex alone is not best for Epson. A touch of Ethylene Glycol (anti-freeze) added to prevent drying/clogging is pretty close to commecial cleaning fluid. Also can be added to windshield fluid similar result. I found this out with HP carts too which had integrated nozzles.

    Ink for Epson CX7400

My advice is go with CIS instead. Refilling takes ten time more time and effort (more like 100x over life of the printer). It's been so long since I filled an Epson cart I forgot details but there's dozens of examples on the net. I recall it was nothing but trouble. Also it's been my...

    Ink for Epson CX7400

Two reasons. First my other Epsons use dye and second, because pigment ink is more expensive than dye. The waterproffing is less important to me (maybe). I'm mostly upset that the vendors are creating such massive confusion. I hate being confused. It's beginning to look like the best course is...

    Ink for Epson CX7400

Tests show my other printers are dye which is also confusing because google has many selling Durabrite (pigment) carts for them. All 30 or so vendors I checked for cx7400 ink say it's dye including the one I got my CIS from. But Epson specifies pigment and that's what's in the CIS I bought...

    Ink for Epson CX7400

The ink does not run so I guess it's pigment. A real disappointment because it's very expensive. I'm going to run the same test on my other printers (r300, r200, r280) to see what's up there. I'll also run the yello/black mix test. So if I flush properly then it may be possible to switch over...
