Cleaned and empty cartridges from more than 2 years, do I need to restore the sponge functionality?

@The Hat Well, technically, as you well know, even if you apply the ghwellsjr's method for some hours, the result is a humid sponge and not a dry one like it is now. I was just wondering if I could just fill the cartridges with the ink or not; and I did not want to make mistakes and start the...

Cleaned and empty cartridges from more than 2 years, do I need to restore the sponge functionality?

Hi all, I have a set of cartridges (PGI520 CLI521) that I have cleaned and left empty very long time ago (> 2 years) but that now I would like to use. In light of this, I am sure that the sponge is completely dry, so do I need to restore the sponge funtuctionality prior to fill the cartridge...

Aluminium tape for sealing the vent hole

First of all, thank you to all of you guys for participating in this thread. Can we say that the sealing of the vent hole is not necessary, irrespective from the refelling procedure used (top-fill or german method) and from how strong both the refill hole and cartridge exit port have been...

Aluminium tape for sealing the vent hole

@The Hat Are you sure that if the cartridge is stored with the Octoink's storage clip and the refilling hole is closed with the Octoink's silicon plugs plus some bluetack as top cover, there is no risk that the ink will exit from the vent hole left uncovered?

Aluminium tape for sealing the vent hole

Hi all, I usually seal (as a precautionary measure) the vent hole of my canon cartridges (PGI 520 and 521) when not in use. However, the aluminium tape in my possession (bought long time ago from octoink in strips of 1mt) it has always been very difficult to remove and, every time, the glue of...

    Draining a Canon cartridge

Sorry startman but I do not understand your post, most probably is due to my limited english knowledge. As far as I know the correct procedure is: - Flush the cartridges with distilled water to remove the ink. - Once done, use the ghwellsjr's method but dot not completely dry the sponge. -...

    Draining a Canon cartridge

I made a mistake. I wrote distilled water without think that before dry the cartridges I insert into the cartridges the pharmacist formula. So I use this method to remove the pharmacist formula and not distilled water. Dunno if this change something.

Topfill method with Cli-521, what to do now?

Hello The Hat! You are right, the electrician tape really sucks when used on the exit hole (I had leakages on 3 of 5 cartridges), next time I will surely try to use the genuine orange caps. Sorry but I do not understand exactly why even if the cartridges weight is quite lower/different from...
