Hello one and all.

I am new here, and indeed new to the Epson XP 15000.

I am now at the stage of trying out the printer to see if I can get it to print my designs correctly on the page etc.

So I bought some replacement ink specifically for trying things out.

So today I go to put the ink cartridges into the printer to find that:-

I don't have the 478 replacement Red and Grey inks.

I only have 378 so I have the 4 colours plus, Light Cyan and Light Magenta.

I seem to remember from my ink jet printer days (Now I only have Laser) that without all 6 places filled it will NOT print at all.

So my question is what to do.

I am only really trying it out, to see how to get the software to work and print correctly.

So I think that if I put the Light Gray and Light Magenta cartridges into the printer, when it prints it will replace the Gray and Red with the colours it has.

So my images are not going to look right.

I need to print some photographs of our Dogs (we are an Animal Welfare Charity; that I am trying to help).

So will the photographs look a little different or will they be complete rubbish?

Thank you for your advice in advance.

I would not try such experiments, you won't get pleasantly looking prints.

Did you buy refill inks with a set of refill cartridges or did you just buy 3rd party cartridges - non OEM - Epson - 478 compatible ?

I bought 3rd party cartridges, they are all 378.

Where as the Epson cartridges are 4x378 and 2x478.

So I have just put the cartridges into the printer and it says that the Light Magenta and Light Cyan are not recognised.

So i have put the Epson 478 cartridges in and it is now going through the setup procedure.

So there is a lesson learnt.

From what I understand the Red and Gray are used less than the others.

I will use the Epson inks once I have got my head around it all.

It took me 3 attempts to get the page the correct size for printing on my Laser, so I am hoping that now I have the images set to the correct page size it the XP15000 will not need any adjustments.

It is now printing the test colour pages.

No, you’re going at this all wrong, you need ALL the carts be Epson OEM carts to start out with, then you can do your testing and experimenting correctly, and once you’ve done that, only then can you switch to using 3rd party inks..

Get it right at the very start with and then you’ll know where your coming from, using rubbish ink to start out will only confuse you more..

What is your specific issue with formatting and placing the image ? Which software are you using to print ?

Well I had a lot of issues, but I have gotten my head around some at least.

I am using Photoshop; well I make the images in Gimp but could not get the image to fit the 10x15cm paper that I want to use.

It was very simple in Photoshop.

I just printed my first photo, it has too much blue I think or has not got enough colour.

Any thoughts on this issue would be welcomed.

Thanks

I think you may very well be right there.

So I'm going to change to the orginal ink.

~BTW~

I read somewhere that Epson have software to use with photoshop and the like, but of course I can't remember what it was, or where I saw it.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

It looks to me like the attached image is totally missing yellow. I also think cyan and magenta are too strong but that is hard to determine when yellow is missing.

Could you upload a scan of a nozzle check to determine if all colours are working?

I'm not sure what you are looking for and what that that software is supposed to do, but if you do the setup from CD Epson most likely has installed a program ' Epson Easy Photo Print' which may be the one you are looking for, and you should have Epson CD Print software as well on your system.

The colors are completely off - let's start with a nozzle check as @PeterBJ is asking for.
