I have an Epson Pro 4000 and have been using refillable 220 ml cartridges. For my printer usage the 220 ml cartridges are too large, plus they extend out of the printer, inviting damage.

I have heard that the OEM 110 ml cartridges are refillable. Has anyone refilled the 110 ml cartridges? Are any special adapters needed? As the cartridges are opaque, how do you gauge when they are filled?

Any advice is appreciated.

All of them! LOL
Don't know about the carts for the 4000 but the ones for the 4800 are as I have bought some of these solely for their OEM ink to use on other printers.
You can simply insert the needleless syringe directly into the exit port. To refill, you would first withdraw any and all leftover ink to collapse the ink bag. Then inject ink into the cart until you have injected 110ml and maybe a bit more. Then reset the chip with a readily available resetter.

Refilling OEM wide format Epson cartriges is nasty regardless if 110 or 220ml..

i myself have a Epson 4000 with refillable cartriges

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/pro4...on-PRO-4000-1pcs-chip-resetter/520883804.html

Bought them here..

after dispatch it took ONE DAY to arrive at my place... fantastic DHL Overnight from China Guangdong to Germany Hamburg.

I bought 8x500ml Octopus Fluids Ink K2 on Octopus-Office, unfortunately they dont sell the ink anymore due to supplier problems...

There are a lot of "ready" to use kits out there with Ink, Cartriges, Reseting tool for the maintenance tank.

Joe,

Thanks for your input. I believe the 4000 OEM carts are similar to the 4800 ones. I will try your suggestions and report back.

cls,

Thanks for your detailed response. However, what I am looking for are refillable 110 ml cartridges, or the ability to easily refill Epson 110 ml cartridges. My Epson Pro 4000 printer is located in a high traffic area and because the 220 ml cartridges stick out of the printer, they are subject to damage. I will be trying Joe Toolman's refilling suggestions to see if they work for the Epson 4000. You are correct in that refilling Epson cartridges could be nasty and messy. I do like the easy funnel fill of the refillable 220 ml cartridges and just wish I could find 110 ml cartridges that refill the same way.

I have successfully refilled 110 ml OEM cartridges for my Epson 4000. The process was as follows:

1. Turn the cartridge with the output port facing down, insert a 60 ml syringe and draw out the remaining old ink.
2. Reset the chip on the cartridge using a chip resetter for Epson Pro printers.
3. Draw 60 ml of ink in the syringe and remove the needle.
4. Turn the cartridge with the output port facing up, attach the syringe and slowly push the ink into the cartridge.
5. Repeat step 4 until 110 ml of ink has been inserted.
6. With the cartridge output port facing up and using an empty syringe, insert the syringe and pull back on the syringe plunger to remove any air in the cartridge.

The above process has to be done with care to avoid damage to the bag in the cartridge or the output port valve and seal.

Many thanks to jtoolman for pointing me in the right direction.

Guys, Do you know where on the earth can I get new printhead for my Epson Pro 4000? I used for 7 years refillable cartridges and inks from MacroEnter (US) with very good results but now it is necessary to replace printhead. Can you help? Nicholas Sherman

Is your printhead really "broken" in that mater?

F145001 Printhead for Epson 4000 retails at 400 USD plus shipping from China AND the install procedure is VERY delicate..
I would even sell the "broken" unit and go for an 4880

No, printhead is not broken. Two channels are blocked and Epson certified technician who is looking after the printer couldn't do anything. China sells used printheads. I just purchased one and returned it back. My technician made special test which shown that this so called "new head" can not be installed because of blockage of two channels too. I was lucky, they returned money but did not agree with us re this used head. We made all photographs to prove it. I think I will buy 3880 if I won't find printhead in Western countries. Nicholas

My Epson 4000 printhead was blocked too: Magenta yellow and matte blacked was vastly blocked: I bought an additional package of refillable cartriges and filled them up with the cleaning solution that Pharmacits provided here.
first i did a refilling cycle with help of the service menu and after all Lines were filled with cleaning solution I did 4 cleaning cycles and let the printer rest for an hour and repeated the steps two days long.
I dyed the cleaning solution with seperate dye ink colors each color designated with its original color. I did a nozzel check and it was all perfect
switched back to my regualr refillable cartriges with OCP Ink, did annother refilling cycle via service menu and voila
printer was good as new.

I also manually cleaned the Cleaning Assembly.
is the "whole" channel blocked? or only few nozzels?
