How about a file repository? Possible?

By 'repository,' I'm referring to things such as Service Tool programs, official service manuals, and the like. Images to accompany any necessary instructions could be included as well, but what I'm suggesting is the likes of a downloadable collection of files specifically relating to various manufacturer's printers:

=> Service Program software
=> Service Manuals
=> User Manuals
=> Drivers, official and unofficial(modified)
=> Third-party servicing instructions KNOWN to be accurate
=> Third-party servicing software KNOWN to be effective
and the like...

None of it would even have to be hosted on the forum's server; it all could easily
be located for free on Google, or FileFactory, or Rapidshare, or across any number
of free services for file sharing.

One or more 'curators' of said repositories could volunteer to be go-to contacts
for members who find a broken link and report it, or find a new source,
allowing curators exclusive access to modify said archive links.

I mention this idea only because I've seen links posted here which either go nowhere,
or lead to a convoluted maze of garbage which is extremely difficult to make sense of
in finding the target.

Could this idea gain traction here, or am I oversimplifying it in my head?

Thanks for posting the idea! We're always open to things that will help / improve the community.

We've discussed something similar to this before, but ran into a few problems that ended up making us think it probably wasn't a good fit. The Hat touched on some, but another big one was copyright issues. We found that it can sometimes be a murky situation if we're hosting / offering other companies stuff not knowing the licensing rights to do so.

That said, I definitely know exactly what you're saying and have also been frustrated when links are dead and/or files are missing!

Feedback appreciated, Rob.

I thought as much, which is why I mentioned third-party free hosting.

I brought the topic up simply because I've not been able to locate valid software tools for my MG5320 and PRO-100, hoping to obtain them for when the ink absorbers need to be reset.
When it actually comes to it, I suppose I'll spend the days & weeks necessary with The Google and weeding through the multitudes of fake/malicious/porn sites from the search results. :(

The days of finding valid software tools to reset your waste ink for your Canon printers are just about gone, and the only ones out there are mostly fake or don’t work successfully at all, your only option is to find an older printer that can be reset and stock up on a few print heads.

Anyway, the Pro 100 is so cheap in the US that the easiest answer is to buy several of them and not bother with the waste ink warning, just dump it..

The Canon MG5320 can enter service mode with the usual procedure with pressing and releasing the Stop/Resume button five times. See this post.

For service mode operations on the MG5320 service tool v3400 works well. It works with all Windows versions XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 and both 32 and 64 bit versions. The service tool is attached as a .rar archive to this post by @CakeHole

Early versions of the Pro printers could enter service mode with the five presses of the stop button and the use of service tool v3400. Trying this with a new Pro printer will most likely lock service mode.

The newest service tool available seems to be the v5103. The Pro printers are not listed as supported, but you could give the service tool a try when the printer has become locked due to the ink absorber being full. But I suggest to buy a spare Pro 100 printer next time they are offered at 50$.

Put it on the Internet Archive
I reckon the Service manual Links that @PeterBJ maintains has served us well, and yes some links have bombed out, but no matter how well you do it that is always going to be the problem, the Internet is a continual moving goal post..
