Yes indeed.. what I want to say is:
the first target of one certain printer model seems to stay always the same, and so does the second target - which is certainly different from the first.
This no matter which ink or paper I profile... with the old and new version...
Now with the new version the first is the same as the first of the old version
But the second seems new to me.

Exactly. I have old ones to compare with and they are totally difference so the claim that they only addressed some "bugs" seems far fetched. Both processes are different specially monitor calibration. It is MUCH more involved and thorough. Much more!

One would hope that those visual changes in the second scan translate into a better and more accurate profile.

Of course, the evaluation of print quality is a difficult and murky subject. Those interested may find a recent comment by Mark McCormick of interest at:

He is talking about specific printers, but the comments can be interpreted in a general sense.

I also think Keith Cooper's later comment is very appropriate:
"..things start to get pretty subjective at that point over which printer model has best overall print quality. They are all so good nowadays, that the viewing audience will only complain about print quality when the printmaker fails to prepare a convincing image."

What is your OS and Monitors Resolution? You can always revert back to the old software.
