I got a roll of aluminum tape and replaced the electricians tape with aluminum. No leaking thus far. I also got the plugs from octoinkjet. They perfectly fit the fill hole once the ball is removed. Now going to get some more 520/521 and 525/526 cartridges to prepare an extra set.

A little tip:

I have found that the cartridge storage clips sold by both Octoinkjet UK and Precision Colors are more convenient to use when topfilling Canon cartridges, instead of reattaching the original orange clips with rubber bands. The cartridges stand more stably on the table or a scale, when using the storage clips.
