As for the scanning ruler, I saw your DIY device. I noticed that in order not to damage a paper surface there is a layer between it and a spectrophotometer. Thus the spectrophotometer is a few mm above the paper. Doesn't it influence the chart readings?

It does affect the chart readings quite significantly and the resulting profiles have a smaller gamut volume than those made with the instrument pressed on the paper (as recommended). That being said, I haven't seen any effect on the quality of test prints.

Are there any targets made specifically for printing BW images? Will they be better for BW in comparison to general targets (for example, your 480 patch target)?

The standard 480 patch target for Colormunki (and for the i1Pro2) is already optimized for BW (128 grey steps) and also emphasizes the neutral axis (-N0.75 setting). This is most noticeable with printers having NO grey inks, but it can still improve BW-printing on printers with grey inks (K3 printers, ET-8550, Canon Pr-10/100/1000) using the standard color printing mode.

Today I had some time to produce a 240-patch target for profiling printable CD/DVD-discs. I am pretty aware that these are not used at a large scale and in computer terms these are a bit old-fashioned, but the only software package that has a target for printable disc is the Spyderprint package. This set is meant for the i1Pro2 device using ArgyllCMS. Because the patch size is very tiny it needs some care to scan these patches, but it can be done.

To be printed on 2 empty printable CD/DVD-discs.

For scanning the disc has to be rotated every 90 degrees to scan the next patch set of in total 8 patch sets divided over 2 printable discs.

When printing these targets in Photoshop with a Canon Pro-10, are these the correct settings? Just want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

Photoshop Print Settings:
1) Color Handling: Printer Manages Color

Printer Settings:
2) Quick Setup > Media Type: (select correct paper profile)
3) Quick Setup > Additional Features: Borderless Printing
4) Main > Color/Intensity > Manual: Set... > Matching > Color Correction: None
5) Page Setup: Amount of Extension: 0 (slider all the way to the left)

Also, I'm assuming I should have Adobe RGB (1998) selected for the colorspace?

I went ahead and did a print, but the colors seem really off to me, the greens come out aqua, and the cyan comes out cerulean blue. They actually appear better when printed in sRGB.

Just want to make sure I have the right print settings.

Also, I had to crop it in order to fit on 8.5x11 inch paper. Do the white areas of the margins at the top and bottom need to be bigger?

No the settings are incorrect and will not produce the required results. The targets need to be printed without colour management of any kind. In Photoshop it has not been possible to turn off colour management since and age ago.

You will need to use the Adobe Color Print Utility (ACPU) to effectively print your targets without colour management

I believe you use a Mac so yo have another option using ColorSync Utility build into the Mac software.
First you open your file:

Then you go to print

Now things may be different at some point yet this is what I get. You want to set the print mode to Print Target.
I also set the sacle to 100% though that should not matter

Now this part is specific to the printer driver yet here is what it looks like for the Epson p900.
You want to select the paper options and quality level as you would under normal printing conditions.
For me that was Epson Ultra Premium Luster
And for print quality I used High Quality

Note that it tells you color maangement is off because you already selected to use the "Print Target" mode.
