New version just arived V 1.6.1 >bugfixes
This is a bug fix release. Bugs fixed:

* "average -m" now concatenates correctly.

* oeminst now works with a wider range of i1d3 install files.

* ColorMunki reflective measurement accuracy has been improved,
particularly for reflective readings. (Accuracy has been poor since V1.5)

* Using the DTP94 on Apple OS X now works again.

* MadVR Test Patch Generator connect code now looks for appropriate 32 bit or 64 bit
.dll.

* MSWin system driver installation has been improved by creating a valid ArgyllCMS.cat
file to match ArgyllCMS.inf. This eliminates the need to "Disable Driver Signature
Enforcement", as well as allowing installation on MSWin 8.1.

Has 1.6.1 fixed the black point problem?

Have been following the posts on "Argyll CMS printer profile workflow" with interest. Especially as there seems to be several divergent opinions.

Can anybody answer the question: Does it produce profiles with visible advantages over the colormunki?

I am reluctant to go down the "rabbit hole" of time and frustration with this piece of software unless I can be reasonably sure I can produce a better printer profile as the end result.

I am currently using colomunki profiles with image specialist inks on a pro-100 and in my opinion the end result is pretty good. But always looking for improvements.

Roy, From my brief experience of the results of both CM and Argyll, I think you would be equally happy with either.

Hi Emu,

At the moment am using the colormunki for my print profiles and very happy with the results using IS inks. Also, it is quick and easy to use, and produces excellent profiles despite the small number of scanned patches..

I had been previously using the Spyderprint 4.2.3 and was not happy with the results.

I am reluctant to change to Argyll and endure the learning curve unless I can be reasonably sure it produces better profiles.

From what I am reading so far the difference is so small as to be almost unnoticeable.

I am sure if you speak to pharmacist nicely he will let you try one of his profiles. I have tested some created for the 9000 ll with IS ink from Argyll patches I returned to pharmacist (the expensive bit). So he may be prepared to email you a copy if you still have your 9000 ll.
