We try to make "best" recommendations. However, each person has their individual likes and dislikes. Octoink inks are time tested by many members here and considered very good overall.

Thanks for posting your ink source. Arici Grup seemed to work well with you over the years, so I would say you are quite positive on them. The Lidl paper may not have worked out too good for you, but that happens to everyone at some point if you venture beyond Canon papers and Canon inks. Not every ink and paper combo will be good, though beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If it works for you then who cares what another says. ;)

True, Printer, ink and paper work together as a system. Changes to one or more of these might affect the print quality.

For me both the Netbit and Sihl papers have worked well with both Canon OEM inks and Image Specialists refill inks. A little colour correction might be necessary, usually you will have to add magenta.

Same quality than that thing sold at Lidl ?.
Then you better keep your prints in a sealed box totally hermetic to UV light and air oxidants, That is, if you want that they last longer than a week.
I’ve said it once or twice before and I say it again. I wouldn’t waste a single penny on the Office Inkjet sold at Lidl ( or Aldi). This paper is the epitome of self destruction.

@palombian : Why you don’t ask your friend le comte de Champignac to research into the matter of print longevity?. I’m sure he could distillate a miraculous preserving substance from one of his mushrooms. Imagine prints in good quality paper lasting 100 years with third party dye inks (for Lidl/Aldi paper a couple of months would be already a terrific achievement :D )

@Artur5, at least you know something about comics.
Indeed, the Champignac chateau is only 5 km on bicycle through the fields from our little country house, but he converted it into a bed and breakfast and has no time anymore for important matters.

As for the paper, I can say that:

- with pigment inks, the prints keep for years on the wall
- with (also 3th party) dye inks, after 5 years in an album, no signifant fade

I admit I lost a lot of time with 3th party dye inks.
A lot of tests on this forum indicate the fading has little to do with the paper (except if it is of the swellable type).
Therefore I only print my photos with pigment ink now.

... but Sihl themselves does not rate this paper the best for use with pigment inks in their technical data. But it's all a matter of a personal judgement)

Strange enough I have some old stock of Sihl paper obviously from Aldi/Lidl marked especially for pigment inks.
It has the least gloss difference of all my papers.

It's not the paper alone, or the ink , it's the combination of both which delivers a good printout or not - that's part of the fun once you start using non genuine inks on non-Epson or non-Canon papers.

With the dye and pigment inks that I use I found most papers worked satisfactory, but the matte photo paper caused extreme fading with the dye ink, the worst performing photo paper for me was HP gloss and satin, the image always looked good on it, but the paper itself crumpled into small pieces with time.

So not all things are created equal, it can be your ink, the paper brand the paper surface, matte, semi-gloss or full gloss, but copy paper can still surprise you with durability and fade resistance.
Test, Test, and Test again, is the only solution..
