The Epson ET-1810 was recently on sale in France (99,9€!). I decided that it was time to experiment and check if one can achieve good B&W prints with 4 shades of gray using a low cost ET-1810 and the manufacturer driver. I bought one and a friend of mine, used to ink mixing, prepared 4 shades of gray ink that I fill B/C/M/Y tanks with.
Then, a test image was printed (with a correction curve to linearize the B&W response of the printer).
Here is a scan of this print (with a low end printer/scanner Canon G4511, that is probably not the best to capture all the details of the print)

Not so bad for a 100€ printer, I think. As I am not used to printing B&W image, all your positive or negative comments on this print will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Pierre.

Looks pretty good from the distance. Do you use dye or pigment inks?

Hi,

Sorry for the late answer: I was on holidays. It is pigment ink.
