Last December Aldi Netherlands sold the SIHL paper for only € 3.99.
At least same quality.
Someone living in the Netherlands could follow this ?

Same quality than that thing sold at Lidl ?.
Then you better keep your prints in a sealed box totally hermetic to UV light and air oxidants, That is, if you want that they last longer than a week.
I’ve said it once or twice before and I say it again. I wouldn’t waste a single penny on the Office Inkjet sold at Lidl ( or Aldi). This paper is the epitome of self destruction.

@palombian : Why you don’t ask your friend le comte de Champignac to research into the matter of print longevity?. I’m sure he could distillate a miraculous preserving substance from one of his mushrooms. Imagine prints in good quality paper lasting 100 years with third party dye inks (for Lidl/Aldi paper a couple of months would be already a terrific achievement )

How do you know - did you run any tests in this regard ? Which inks did you use for such tests ? What are your results ? Which papers are you comparing the Lidl/Aldi papers with ?

The only Photo paper I use is the Aldi United Office Photopaper from Sihl, and I am not getting the results you speak of, in fact I’m very happy with the quality.

I buy 3rd party inks because there cheaper than OEM, so it makes sense to me to do the same with the Photopaper, and you can’t get Photopaper any cheaper than United Premium Quality Photopaper...

I don’t buy rubbish...

How do you know - did you run any tests in this regard ? Which inks did you use for such tests ? What are your results ? Which papers are you comparing the Lidl/Aldi papers with ?

No scientifical controlled testing but the results of my home testing where overwhelming.
I printed and pinned to the wall 2 copies made with the same third party ink that I’ve using for years on my Pro9000 with good results. One copy printed on Epson Premium glossy photo paper, the other on Lidl paper. No direct sunlight reached the prints any time of the day.
After less than a week the Lidl print showed evident fading in the blacks and cyans. ( blacks turning brown, greens getting a yellowish tinge and light cyan almost disappearing ). Magentas and yellows did much better. The copy on Epson paper didn’t show visible fading after a week. It did after two or three months but even then it was much better than the Lidl copy after one week.
Another Lidl copy kept all the time in the dark in a closed box is still fine after one year. Maybe it’s the UV light, the ozone and other pollutants or a sum of both, but this paper can’t stand open air. For what is worth, after reading a bit about OBAs I tested all the papers that I had at hand ( printed or not ) with a UVA lamp.
Canon PP101, Epson Premium glossy photo, Epson Metaglos and Epson Pro luster showed no fluorescence at all under UV light. I assume that they carry none or very little OBAs. Canon PT-101 Platinum, showed moderate fluorescence, while the Office Inkjet from Lidl glowed wildly in violet, a clear sign that it has OBAs a plenty.

I must admit that I got quite a different fading performance of the Sihl/Aldi/Lidl Office photo paper - the Sihl 769 instant dry type.
I did quite extensive tests with various dye inks and a range of glossy photo papers over the last years,

The Sihl paper is not faring much different than other papers as listed.
I measured the lightness change of saturated CMYK patches via a scanner, numbers listed are totals if individual numbers by color are not listed.
OBA's are in lots of papers, and those OBA's have a tendency to fade faster than some dye inks. Test prints had been exposed to the sun or other daylight conditions at the time of report, but it is not posible for me to separate the influence of UV and ozone, dye ink prints are fading as well during winter time wihtout much sun. And I'm not comparing those numbers, lightness change values between tests directly, but only the ranking between the papers under test, and I have not seen that the Sihl paper suddenly performed much better or worse at one test vs. other tests.

When comparing the Sihl paper with the Canon or HP, Tecco papers the Sihl paper does not perform much different than the others, and the pricing of the Sihl paper is unbeatable in relation to the other papers as well.
