A new project

Start of a new project, a Focke Wulf 152H plane. Just the front cowling in white PLA. Will be a while before I complete it as I will be experimenting with LW-PLA for some parts of the model in order to keep the weight down.

Inner and outer cowl snap together but will be glued of course once I get to the assembly stage.

Did you do any finishing or is this the way it looks right off the printer?

This is it off the printer, no finishing. Can't get a decent photo but the print has a beautiful sheen to it.
The wall is only 0.45 mm thick - a single layer so temperature and speed are important to ensure optimum bondng of the layers for strength.

A few more parts just stacked together to give an impression of the detail. Still trying to work out how the designer modelled the panel lines in a single wall.

Got the LH wing root completed tonight. Wing parts are difficult because they take a long time to print and the surface area on the plate is tiny so prone to warping off the bed. It's the first wing part printed on the PEI sheet with no other fixative and held great. 275mm in length and 175mm high, printed at 225c, 55c bed and no parts fan for good layer bonding. The printer side panels and front were fitted to keep the temp constant.

Feck it @Redbrickman, with prints like that you’ll have to learn to walk with a swagger..
That looks even better than a moulded part… Just fantastic..
P.S. Worth all the late nights getting the thing going..

Thanks for the comments. Any of the 3Dlabprint models are relatively easy to print on any 3D printer, it just takes time to tweak the settings for your own printer, though I must admit that this model is one of their most detailed.
