Unfortunately now the adapter came loose from the clip. So I have to wait for the new one or try to glue this one back on. I tried epoxy and then cyanoacrylate, both without success. Don't know what Octoinkjet used.
Purging still is a PITA, even with the Octoinkjet purge clips. The reservoir fills even tho there is no vent, how does this happen?. I've even tried stock carts with no hole anywhere. Trying to empty the reservoir using my German method results in contamination of the sponges which causes...
I was planing to use only about 3% of the whole antifreeze in distilled water. I happen to know that the main ingredient is the Propylene Glycol, and since this is the part in the conditioning fluid that doesn't evaporate, it really doesn't need much. However, you have me worried about the...
The anti freeze contains Ethyl Alcohol (64-17-5), Propylene Glycol (57-55-6), Water (7732-18-5), Potassium Phosphate (7758-11-4), Colorant (2611-82-7), Fragrance (126-90-9). I don't see anything that will interfere with only 3% conditioning fluid.
Oh BTW, the cart that I tried with the Freedom...
:(I just tried the suction (Freedom) method to fill a cli-8 cart using the Octoinkjet cart for purging, and couldn't seem to get a good seal. Probably on the air vent. I used scotch tape and put my finger on top of it, but I had to pull the plunger many times and finally got the reservoir...
I am still not happy with the system. Purging with the new clips from Octoinkjet works pretty good, but refilling with the German method afterwards doesn't work worth a d....!
The german method works wonderfully with my original carts when low, but in trying to get a duplicate set after purging...
I want to praise octoinkjet. They are not only going to send me a new clip, free, but said they are going to enclose the instructions of how to use the clips with every order from now on. Wish all companies were that appreciative of their customers as they:D
Well, I just received my purge clips from octoinkjet, but they wouldn't fit the cli-8 carts. I had to modify the small clip by cutting the end where the cartridge spring goes up to within about 1/16 inch of the top. This allows the cart to fit all the way down. Obviously they sent the wrong...
It would be neat if someone could devise a soft cup or something that you could place on top of the cart and apply an empty syringe to and pull a vacuum.
Then get a patent as a medical device to prevent black (or red or ?) lip and tongue disease.
:)I normally purge with plain water, but would alcohol dry quicker? And how do you know when they are dry enough?
I just refilled a cart, and am having trouble getting the sponge filled.
I bought some cartridges on Ebay, but I am finding "purging" to be a PTA. Since I use the German method of refilling, I don't want to drill a new hole in the top. I have been trying to purge by running water in the outlet port and then using paper towels folded up to wick the water and...
That is exactly what I do. My whole point is that I have never had to let the reservoir go down completely before this printer. I was just wondering if it is using more ink before reporting "low".
I guess I should invest in another set of OEM carts.
Anyway thanks for the ideas.
I'd definitely go broke if I had to buy new cartridges every time. I have to refill at least one color almost every day thanks to Canons tiny cartridges for this printer. I use the German method, and have 4oz bottles filled with each color, and with caps with needles on every bottle, so...
I refill all my carts as soon as the printer says they are getting low, but the photo magenta and Cyan, take filling 5 or 6 times, as the cart is in the upright position. It seems the sponge is almost dry, and just keeps filling up. I've gotten in the habit of leaving the needle in and turning...
