Thanks for the posts guys, all very interesting.
I have a question before attempting this on my own XP-600,
What inks would you use in there? I'm tempted to say a regular Durabrite pigment black and 4 regular Epson dyes.
But, the printhead interface is so different, I'm not even sure it's...
If they work well, I'd be highly curious to get my hands on some! All I've come across are "permanent chips" which don't show an ink level at all, but at least don't give nasty ink low messages.
It's just a question of leaning the bottle to the side, carefully. What I do is pierce the needle straight through the aluminum seal on the bottle instead of removing it. By piercing through the seal right near the edge of the bottle (not at the center), I can actually tip the bottle sideways...
This brother cartridge has no chip, instead it has a gear that needs to be reset in order for the refill to be accepted:

As for toner powder, definitely use a powder that's designed specifically for your cartridge series. Every toner is different in...
Hey guys,
Looking to get a CISS for an XP-305 and need a recommendation on what kind of ink to get, pigment or dye. I'm confused as to exactly what type of ink is in the OEM cartridges. I thought it was the same as XP-300 in the USA which is all-pigment I believe.
Thanks,
The simple answers are:
- Yes they can and it's relatively easy to do.
- No I don't believe blanks or CISS are available yet, but the Chinese are working on it.
- There are chips so the ink levels will read low and potentially even impede use. No resetter exists.
I don't see a problem with that.
In fact, it may even be better for you because you will avoid any chance, however small, of problems during the switch from OEM to compatible.
For compatible cartridges that work perfectly (like the OEMs) or for successful refilling (including with refillable cartridges), these are the printers to choose from:
Any BROTHER
Any CANON using CLI-221 or 226 carts
Any EPSON
That's it. Stear clear of DELL, HP, or LEXMARK.
I myself bought a WP-4020 and use InkOwl refillable carts and pigment ink and it works great! I print mainly homework, though I print pictures too and they look great, even on glossy paper.
I love the fact that the cartridges hold 100ml of ink. They will probably last a year or so which is much...
Hi David,
Let me answer your questions about third-party cartridges and refill kits:
If they say "OEM" or "genuine" they are likely counterfeit (which is not necessarily a bad thing), unless the guy only has a few units for sale (implying he may be liquidating his personal stuff). Be wary of...
Here, I can recommend InkOwl's inks, which I use in my Artisan printer. Not sure about shipping to Europe though.

The printer uses dye ink, and as such using the universal dye ink you bought on eBay "shouldn't" damage anything.
However, that does not mean it will be even closely matched color-wise to the original colors or will it be fade resistant.
It's hard to say who will be first to market with a new ink cartridge. What you can do is check Alibaba to see if cartridges have come out.
(Actually, I just checked and there is a factory in China that claims to have them)...
#30 chips aren't available yet so it will be a while before compatible cartridges for this model are released.
However #10 compatibles are widely available. To my knowledge, it took about a year after the #10 was launched for compatibles to become available so you should have something for the...
Do you know if the same tip will work for the Epson Stylus Pro models?
Here is a link to a refillable cartridge set: http://www.inkowl.com/?p=product&product=4320
