Hi all, long time no post.
Well anyway, I bought a s/h HP 6940 on eBay for not a lot. The seller claims to have installed two new cartridges.
I got it all up and running after downloading HP's behemoth of a driver package (253MB!!) but I noticed the colour cartridge light flashing sometimes...
Hmm... I had some time today, so I turned my attention to that tube. It didn't seem blocked, but I squished fluid through it anyway. That seemed to be fine. I could drop some on the sponge and suck it down with the syringe on the other end of the pipe.
I think the printer has other issues...
Do you know if the tube's removable at all? that would make it easier as being soft it could be massaged to help clear it. Also, I understand it's a peristaltic pump. That would mean the tube has to be pinched at some point. Is it still possible to get liquid past this point?
I can get at each end of the tube. Where it attaches to the underside of the sponge, and where it connects to the waste tank. I guess it shouldn't be too difficult to force some liquid down it. I did notice, as it was doing its thing, that there was some liquid ink moving in the tube, but it...
Right, I had a go today. Took the head out completely and used windolene on it. No idea what was in it, the label didn't say...
Anyway, it did seem to shift the ink so there may be hope. The underside of the print head looks nice and clean. I took out the sponge, and cleaned that, but not the...
What's the UK equivalent of windex? I gather it's a window cleaner, what's the active ingredient which works for print heads?
I searched, but didn't find. Could you please point me to the specific post?
Thanks.
Oh, I tried the cleaning cartridges, but they didn't help.
I was given an Epson C82, not working. The previous owner had tried to clean the head but when he reassembled it, it just made strange noises. :( At that point he gave up and offered it for free, so I took it.
I fired it up, and it did indeed make a strange noise. So I opened it up and saw that...
In my experience, the paper is more important than the printer itself. No point getting a photo realistic high resolution printer when the thermal transfer paper won't give that kind of result.
I used a cheap Epson 480 and it was just fine. I tried papers from Epson, HP and Canon. Epson worked...
Hi, sorry for not searching (I tried, but it seems uk on its own isn't enough, and the search complains I didn't enter anything).
So, who's the best/cheapest supplier for refill kits for my HP 3420 (27/28 carts). I've used system insight before, but that was a long time ago.
Who are the UK's...
Here's a thought. I once saw an inkjet printer modified to print on a cake.
Instead of pulling the paper through, it was made so that the printheads passed over the cake on a kind of gantry.
However, you're still confusing us in post #4:
So, is it 5mm or 0.45 mm?
Hmmm, I appear to have acquired one of these, second hand.
As it's used, some of the consumables have been consumed. Specifically the drum cartridge, which was warning me it needs replacing. I started looking around for prices (~$150) and I also noticed people selling reset kits for the drum on...
So, having slept on it, I had another go this morning. I found out why it stops pulling after 1.5", then picks up again.
There are two rubber wheels, and two nylon pinch rollers. The rubber wheels are worn so they aren't pushing on the rollers so hard, and they're no longer round, so they grip...
Any experts here? My 6l is becoming unreliable.
What happens it that it will start feeding, then stop after about 1 1/2" of paper has fed in. The wheels are still turning at this point, and sometimes it will pick up the paper again and continue feeding. If this happens, it will stop again as...
(reposted from another forum, but it's more appropriate here)
During a refilling session, I placed a sheet of the sticker paper on which i was printing under some tissue paper, wiping it clean as I went along.
Once I'd finished, I saw the paper and thought...
That would sell for a fortune in...
