Hi all, long time no post.

Well anyway, I bought a s/h HP 6940 on eBay for not a lot. The seller claims to have installed two new cartridges.
I got it all up and running after downloading HP's behemoth of a driver package (253MB!!) but I noticed the colour cartridge light flashing sometimes, indicating an error. The black printout was stripy too, but this seemed to be improving with more printing.

I made a couple of high quality photo prints on cheap glossy photo paper and was impressed with the quality.

The light was still flashing occasionally, requiring a power cycle or cartridge reseating to reset.

That was yesterday. Today I can't get the light to stop flashing. I've tried cleaning the cartridge manually, including the contacts on it and in the printer, but it just won't stop flashing.

It's networked, and connecting via my browser it says that the Color ink cartridge has failed

I'm reluctant to spring for a new cartridge if it's the printer itself which is faulty.

I haven't confronted the seller yet, and I haven't left feedback either, yet.

Any ideas from the experts?

FWIW it's done 3,579 pages according to the status.

The other niggle is, why buy new ink then sell it?
