Hello I am the owner of an epson 1430 & a WF-7610

I'm needing some help with my Epson 1430, that I replaced the print head cable.

Now the printer will not turn on.

I have a metal clip left after repairing the cable, and wonder if it is maybe a grounding wire or something.

I do not know or remember where the clip goes on the printer.

Looking for help!

In case you don't have the service manual already you find one here: https://www.eserviceinfo.com/download.php?fileid=67500 . Notice that the manual is a four part .rar archive so all four parts should be downloaded before unpacking. Also notice the site is ad sponsored and be sure to click the proper link, else you might get a nasty surprise like a browser hi-jacker or other malware. The proper link to click is near the bottom of the page:

Thank you. I downloaded the file, but it's asking for a password to extract the files.

I have just downloaded the manual to test if something was wrong with the archives. I had downloaded the manual a couple of years ago and back then I had no problems unpacking the manual. This time I had difficulties unpacking the manual, but the problems were caused by "User Error". I had forgotten how to use WinRar. A little Googling helped me. When unpacking a multi part rar archive the individual parts must first be merged before the merged file can be unpacked. Here is an instruction.

I have WinRAR installed. The process for unpacking or viewing the contents of a multipart RAR file is you must have all parts of the multipart RAR in the same root directory or folder and you then click on the file marked as part 1. This unpacking function is done automatically. The same process is used with WinZIP.

Merging of several RAR files into a new RAR file, like placing an envelope of papers inside another envelope, has nothing to do with unpacking for viewing the multipart RAR files like the document in question on this thread. Merging, in this context, is for grouping of several RAR files and placing all the RAR files into one single RAR file. This single super RAR file contents can be multiparts of the same file or different files altogether once unpacked. You are making a new RAR file and filling it with files of any kind to group them together. This is done to keep things organized, like placing all silverware in the same kitchen drawer instead of spoons in one drawer, knives in another drawer, etc.

I found out my problems were caused by an older download of the manual in my download folder. This caused a (1) to be added to the file names so the WinRar program, 7-zip and Total commander wouldn't accept the files. After removing the (1) addition all three programs could unpack the .rar files.

Here is the unwanted (1) addition that caused a lot of trouble.

problems were caused by an older download
I see another problem - the displayed date has the month and day reversed! May be a virus. ;):D

To get the thread back on the track: @Marline Simington Did you manage to unpack the service manual? If not what OS and (un)packing program do you use? We might then make a step by step instruction for the unpacking.

Also see this thread and specially notice this post. The problems were caused by a bad contact between a ribbon cable and a connector.
