I am not sure exactly what should have printed from this test but the only thing on the page was a small windows flag. (red, green, blue, and yellow)

How many different blocks of color show up in the nozzle check?
There are six rectangular blocks at the top(three on each side with a small black or gray box beside each one) and six smaller below. (four on top and two below)

I will try the test per Jasiiboss now and report the findings. Thanks for the help!
Since there are six cartridges in your printer, there should be six blocks of test patterns. Can you identify one for each color: black, cyan, light cyan, magenta, light magenta, and yellow. They will probably be in a different order.

Are you referring to a printer self test page??
Yes............ sorry for the vagueness!

The test blocks are all in a different color. I believe that the printer is working fine. There must be some setting either on the pc or on the printer that is out of whack. I can print graphics all day but no text whatsoever even if they are all on the same page.

So you can see a nozzle check pattern for your black cartridge labeled Bk? What are all the labels on all the rows of nozzle check patterns?

You may want to take a scan or camera shot of your printout and your nozzle check pattern and post it here.

This sure seems a weird problem.

Go to control panel----- ADD REMOVE PROGRAMS----- UNINSTALL THE PRINTER
REBOOT COMPUTER
REINSTALL PRINTER USING DRIVER CD
KEEP ALL SETTINGS TO DEFAULT DURING INSTALLATION.

If the above does not work than do the undermentioned:
When printer is off
Press Resume/cancel (R/C)button
Switch printer on while keeping the R/C button pressed
LED should turn green
Holding power button Press R/C buton 2 times
Release all buttons
LED should blink first orange than green
When LED is green Press R/C button 1 time
Feed paper in Printer as printer will print a service test page
Scan and upload the page for further resolution.

Hi Jasii

Thanks for asking. I meant to get back and thank everyone for the help. Just been busy. I tried every suggestion that has been offered and am still having the same problems. All the colors on the tests seem to be working fine. I am still thinking that there has to be a setting that is out of whack either on my pc or on the printer even though I have tried to check everything I can think of. I am not a newbie having built my last two pc's myself but far from being knowledgeable about everything technology wise.

I am going to try to work on it again this weekend since I will have some time off with the holiday coming up.

Thank you all again. I will post any solutions I may come across.

C.B.

what is a little unclear to me...you say graphics print fine, just text doesn't. I assume the text is black, is there any black in the graphics you're printing? If not, try to print a picture/graphic that has some black in it or is completely black. Does this work?
