Just a request from a satisfied but only semi-technically-literate user-- simplifying the drop-down list of presets sounds like a good idea, but I do find pharmacist's charts with grayscale emphasis a quick and easy way to get excellent results. Maybe 1- and 3-page options (letter-sized) for the i1Pro optimized for b&w?

Glad you are happy with my patch designs, but currently nothing has changed. Knut and I want to streamline the amount of presets to have a basic but solid set that are usable. I will cooperate with Knut what patch designs should be implementated and it will have the arguments included that are also in my home-brewed targets. ChromIQ has some fantastic possibilities unseen in the i1Profiler "smart" patch generator. @know : probably I will supply with some new ti1 sets for you to make the new target sets and see if we can streamline and simplify the current preset set to make it more handy and better organized.

Here is a list of all 185 built-in presets, in the order and under the group headings of the pulldown shown in Create Chart tab, Manual mode.
Please fill in column "Include as default" with yes, for all the presets you prefer to show in the presets list. The others will still be available, but must be accessed by a collapsable arrow, so that they are not shown as default. If you have any comments for a preset, please use the comments column.

I would appreciate it if this can be done as soon as possible, for the sake of the next release.

Which presets that are shown in the pulldown lists will be configurable, so that any user can change what they like to have available in the list (because that is what they decide they use the most).

When you, or any of you, have replied with what is desired to show as default, then I will set this in the coming release.

Hi Knut,

Thanks for the list. Could you post the table in a excel sheet and upload it (in zip file) so we can have a look at in excel or OpenOffice in order to fill in yes/no and to add some comments as needed. I would ask others too to comment and make some suggestions to improve the list.

185 presets is a bit too much to choose from (in Dutch we would say: Not able to oversee the forest because there are too many trees).

Probably it needs a complete overhaul of the program, but it might be better when choosing the paper size in the generate target menu:

Only the presets of the chosen paper size are shown in the presets menu (others will be hidden). This might make clear up the amount of presets to choose from and make it simpler to choose from the list.

Not sure I have forget some combinations, but this would be: 6 + 6 + 8 +8 +120 + 2 = 142 presets to encompass all the available paper size/spectro/quality settings combinations, so 185 is a bit too much, limited by some impossible combinations (probably you can put A3+ under the i1Pro1/2/3 scanning jig in portrait mode, but of the limited operating range when moving from left to right a large area of the paper is unused, thus it would leave a large area of the paper surface unused making it a bit uneconomical to use to generate a printer profile, unless you have the incredibly expensive i1Sis 2 XL spectrophotometer that can scan A3+ in one go).

This is my train of thought about the "ideal" preset list. Anyhow 142 is also quite a large preset list too .

Thanks for the list. Could you post the table in a excel sheet and upload it (in zip file) so we can have a look at in excel or OpenOffice in order to fill in yes/no and to add some comments as needed. I would ask others too to comment and make some suggestions to improve the list.

185 presets is a bit too much to choose from (in Dutch we would say: Not able to oversee the forest because there are too many trees).

Probably it needs a complete overhaul of the program, but it might be better when choosing the paper size in the generate target menu:

Only the presets of the chosen paper size are shown in the presets menu (others will be hidden). This might make clear up the amount of presets to choose from and make it simpler to choose from the list.

I have initiated for the beta 43 coming up that a user can limit the presets according to selected paper size, inside the new settings window where presets are selected to be shown or not. (cog-wheel button to the right of the Select Preset pulldown in Create Chart tab).

I will make a proposal for which presets to show and send you the csv file. There will be an export and import button too, so that it is easy for others to get a file sent to them and then a modified file imported again.

Glad you like it.

If you have a small screen, the only thing to do currently is either to increase resolution (if possible), or hide the log panel...It is a bit difficult due to all the settings, I know... We have not found a better solution than this without a major change in the layout.

That would be very nice, especially there is double system that limits not only the amount of shown presets based on the paper size but also by the chosen spectro used to scan the target (so you won't get a A3+ preset presented when you choose the i1Pro1/2/3 but only when choosing the i1Pro3 Plus als spectro).

For now, the filtering according to the instrument setting is not included. The list will not be that long now, so I don't know if it is really needed. That can be changed later.
