I see that various sellers in Germany have the GI-56 inks on stock, these GI-56 inks are pigment inks and most likely not usable on a Pro-200 as the title of this thread refers to dye Pro-100/200 inks. Testing these inks on a Pro-100s would be an experiment to convert a Pro-100s into a kind of Pro-300, I don't have the hardware available and Canon inks and printers are not my turf at this time.

This is confusing indeed, my apologies.
The GI-56 are pigment inks for the Maxify printer.
Will cover this subject in an appropriate thread.

I’ve just checked on the Canon website and the GI-56 inks are available to purchase with free delivery, the BK Black is €37.49 and the other three colours are €25.99, now that poses another question for me, what is the capacity of these bottles.

The Maxify XL carts sell at €99.99 for the set and the bottles run at €115.46 a set so unless the contents of the bottles are much higher than the cart set , there’s not much of a saving.. ?

I'm reading that the GI-56 bottles all come with 135ml.

Indeed, how much ink in these bottles? I looked the specs of the Maxify GX at Canon's web and no indication of capacity, only estimated number of pages printed, which is totally meaningless in real life use.

Oops, I see that @Ink stained Fingers enlightened us in this question, but ir's 135ml for CMY or black ?.
Prices for CMY bottles are around 22€ while Black is 32€, so I assume that black bottles are bigger, as it happens with Pixma G series megatanks.

Thanks from me too, @Ink stained Fingers.
Now we know where we are. It's roughly 30 euro per 170ml bottle vs aprox. the same price for a 70ml PGI-2500XL black cart. Of course, bottled ink is more affordable but still way more expensive than purchasing third party ink of decent quality. For the same price of a 170ml Canon black ink for Maxify you can get 1 liter of Inktec.
Is it OEM worth the extra expense ?. This is a personal choice. While Inktec keeps working fine for me, I won't be purchasing Canon bottles.

Looking at the specs, apart from having user replaceable maintenance carts and using internal tanks instead of removable cartridges, the new GX models seem to be close brothers/sisters of the old ones. Probably they use the same printhead too.
As expected, Canon charges a lot more for the tank printers in order to compensate the future savings on ink.

These new machines aren’t meant at all for home users but solely for office/business. Unless you print at least, say 80-100K of pages/year, the price differential between a MB5150 and a GX6050 is too much.

I’m with @arthur5 on this some of the way, I have never purchased OEM ink to use in any of my printers for the last 20 years, I did buy some OEM ink to test and waste, the last being for the Pro 200/300, €55 down the drain, but curiosity always costs something.

I am now tinkering with the idea of using these GI-56 bottles in my Maxify, because as good as the HP inks that I’m using now are, I still need to do the odd head clean for good quality prints, the printer is not used enough to keep the head free of clogs, but OEM ink would solve that issue..

The OEM bottle inks are 50% higher cost than the HP inks I’m using now..

Do not buy the whole set at once.
I took the cyan since this is the most critical (for unknown reason).
A cleaning from time to time keeps it working but I don't like this (I print almost every day).
I won't change inks that cause no problems (as the octopus.de BK and M).
