Ok Now the cartridges been filled
How do we over come the chip Can this be reset or do you over ride it
If over rideing the chip what is the sequence to do this :D
The object of the exercise is to refill the tanks when they are still half-full and this will maintain the ink monitoring for quite some time, as for how long I dont know that just yet.

If you have to disable the ink monitoring on one of the tanks then just hold in the resume button for five or six seconds and the printer will then continue to print as normal.

This practice is not as worrying with this printer because of the huge size of the ink tanks
so long as you remember to do a top-up occasionally by checking their weight..:)

Epson 3880. Canon Pro 9000,
I am new to the Forum, so forgive me if I ask da wrong question......

I am planning to buy a Pro1 on or about the 27th of this month. I was thinking that the cart is 35ml, not so large compared to 80ml in 3880, but as you say stay awake and check frequently OK so far.

Is it "possible" that with a claimed 12,288 nozzles in the print head that Canon MAY have done something sneaky with the Ink for this printer..........Naaa! not practical...or is it?

Is it going to be 'safe' to assume that for now the existing pigment ink will not do any damage.

This is a straight up question, I REALLY do not know the answer. Purchasing this printer on the off chance that there will be a long term work around is tthe thing that worries me, cos I just got the Missus to nod on a printer full stop. Can you imagine my predicament if it goes to pot!!! :)

The Tank size on this printer is 35 ml as you say but the larger ones are a lot less convenient anyway because you tend to forget to check them more regularly and can easily get caught with little or low inks.

I check mine weekly by weight and have a sticky note stuck on them besides with just a touch of a button there easy removed and never leak so its not a big problem.

I am currently using Image Specialists pigment inks from my Pro 9500 as a stop gap till the new colour set is made for the Pro 1, with the exception of dark and light greys which are unfortunately Canon inks for the time being.:barnie

I am intending to use the Optimiser from the iX7000 as soon as I get the nod
that it will work the same as the current stuff does on the Pro 1.

I currently have a slight colour change in the output on mine but a simple manual profile change corrects that so it is not a big problem for me, but then I dont use it as a photo printer.

If anyone who is not intending to use OEM inks and may have issues with colour matching and is very fussy then I would suggest you get a Pro 9500 till there are some third party inks made available exclusively for the Pro 1 otherwise go for it.:love

What I found is that the I.S. pigment inks are made just the same as Canon inks in that
they can be used on both the large format and small A3+ printers without any issues.

The only downside I have found with the Pro 1 is that I will have to leave it turned on 24/7 to stop it wasting ink, like all OEM CISS printers they tend be very wasteful on start-up; otherwise I am completely happy with it, Simples.. :thumbsup

Epson 3880. Canon Pro 9000,
Appreciate the answers given, clears up a whole lot of unasked questions too. Colour correcting should not be a problem BUT
Will have to import my own OEM from USA. Sounds like for now dark and light greys + optimiser :barnie :he

Many thanks,

Andrew

To The Hat

Thanks for the email. I tried to reply but the rules prevent me till I have made five posts!!

I am located in Australia, and till three days ago the Aus/US$ was very favourable. The only folks I know that are purchasing Canon inks are going via Canada/USA. From here I have access to Precision Colours via ebay and had a plan to go that way myself. At this stage I have not contacted either as the how and WHEN of sourcing a printer here is, I suspect going to get sorted on the 25-27th of this month in Melbourne where there is to be a Digital Show.......The BIGGEST in the Southern Hemisphere! Just makes me think of the Americans having 'World Championships' at which no foreign teams or individuals are entered.....hoHum!

Cheers,

Andrew

Above you stated that you do not use the Pro 1 as a Photo Printer, what do you use it for can I ask, I have been mulling that over ever since :)

I only got this printer because it had larger ink tanks and it goes well with my other pigment printer
which I use to print mainly Leaflets and Posters

I tend use one of my dye printers to do any photos that may crop up from time to time
and just print them on cheap photo paper which works out very well for me. :)
Forgive me rodbam for I have sinned..:hide

The Hats poor Pro 1 is undergoing torture having to print out graphs & posters when it wants to show its master how it could print photos as good as the best of them.
I might ring Canon & tell them what the Hat is doing:)

You do realise you two seriously need to get out more...
