One last (I hope) question. How regularly should I set it to run a nozzle check in Task Scheduler?

Well there lies the nub of the problem if you set it to 4 days you may get away with just a nozzle print and quick washing cycle !

But if you leaves it for 7-10 days then the machine may invoke a full cleaning cycle, you’d have to test it out to see which is better. All these new machines now have completely different cleaning maintenance.

Hi everyone, thank you for the wealth of printing knowledge in these threads. I have been refilling for about 1yr with PC inks. I have gone through a 2 printers and at least 3 printheads. I think it was due to not refilling enough (waiting till the tank was empty per Mikling's video)

When the printhead goes, is the printer damaged as well? If I replace the printhead will it go too because I've printed on any empty tank and damaged the printer? I have a Pro-100 but this is the second one I have tanked in the last 8 mos, getting expensive.
Is there another printer anyone would recommend for printing a lot of 4x6? Are the Pixma MX lines any good?

Well, stop doing what you've been doing! Refill when the carts reach low. You are not wasting ink by topping off when low as opposed to waiting till they reach theoretically empty. Mikling's videos do not recommend that!
The way to ruin brand new print head is to install it in a Canon printer with a damaged logic board.

Yes, I just found the videos this week. I will be refilling at first low ink alert. But have I damaged the logic board by print on low ink? It seems like I did on the previous printer. I replaced the printhead and a few months later had clogging issues with PM and M again..

I'm fed up!

Less than a month since my second replacement (i.e third) print head and I've got yet another failed Nozzle Check, this time with Magenta (previous times were both Photo Magenta).

I haven't printed many photos (about a dozen 6x4s) in this period but have done a Nozzle Check every day to ensure all is kept sweet and dandy.

I'm now soaking the head in Pharmacist's solution in case it's a simple clog but am really wondering if there is a more fundamental issue going on here.

Your nozzle check doesn’t look that good but leaving it to soak for a couple of days may bring it back to 100% again, I’d try warm water and fairy washing liquid first then before refitting I’d put a few drops of pharmacist solution on the inlets.

While you’re soaking your print head you might think about purging your two Magenta cartridges and getting them ready for use again, they may have contributed to the clogs also.

Now I know you would have seen this video before and you know how to refill a cartridge because you have refilled many many times before but it doesn’t do any harm to see it again, it may save your print head and I do hope it’s not to late..
