Don't start with too many questions at the beginning which add to the complexity of color mgmt and profiling, they are valid but can be handled later- just get a handling flow working to begin with.
This seems to have fallen on deaf ears...:duc

I regret I'm not familiar with ArgyllCMS commands and operational details etc and hope that somebody else more knowledgable can comment your questions.

Ok seems i succeded to create an A4R with 880 patches for the i1pro then i will have to try to scan it when the device will come here to me, i added White=8 Black=8 and Grey=128 to have better b/w prints

This is the script i ran

./profile_my_880_patches_on_A4.sh
Generating MY 880 patches on A4R sheet
targen -v -d2 -e8 -B8 -G -g128 -t -f880 my 880 A4R
iRGB test chart
White patches = 8
Black patches = 8
Composite Grey steps = 128
Full spread patches = 880
Full points:
100%
Total number of patches = 880
Execution time = 0.472023 seconds

printtarg -v -ii1 -a0.82 -b -T360 -P -m1 -pA4R -L my 880 A4R
Paper chosen is A4R [297.0 x 210.0 mm]
Patches = 880
Test patches per row = 20
Rows per page = 44, patches per page = 880
Rows in last strip = 44, patches in last row = 20
Total pages needed = 1
Worst case delta E = 1.012041
Worst case direction distinction delta E = 49.772831
Optimising layout for strip reader:
100%
After optimisation, worst delta E = 60.684495
Worst case direction distinction delta E = 61.643353
Creating file 'my 880 A4R.tif'

I have moved the patch strips to the right in the final tiff files

I post it here if someone would like to try to read it with the i1pro.

I'm not using ArgyllCMS, and other profiling programs create its own targets. Please consider a detail when publishing a graphics file for the purpose of profile scanning - do not use the .jpg file extension because the (un)compression creates plenty addtional colors which might interfere with the purpose of such graphic, the .jpg file - uncompressed - contains 124842 colors in total - or 182152 colors if I use another graphcis editor, you find the compression fragments mostly along the separation lines. And you just started off with 880 colors. The uncompressed .tiff file is much larger than .jpg and not a supported file format to upload here, you may either use the .png format or zip the .tiff file if you ask somebody to test this patch sheet.
The command line would be enough for a ArgyllCMS user to print this patch sheet.

You are right, i mean just to show it, jpg is compressed and can't be used to profile, i wanted to upload the tiff file, but it is not permitted, so i uploaded the jpg only to show the chart patterns

again, it seems i succeded to create an A4 with 899 patches for the i1pro then i will have to try to scan it when the device will come here to me, i added White=8 Black=8 and Grey=128 to have better b/w prints, i used a 210x230mm sheet then i copied all the content on an A4.tif created before in the others run, i removed some white space on the left/right side and on bottom to stay in the A4 format.

./profile_my_899_patches_on_A4.sh
Generating MY 899 patches on 210x300 sheet
targen -v -d2 -e8 -B8 -G -g128 -t -f899 my 899 210x300

Black patches = 8
Composite Grey steps = 128

printtarg -v -ii1 -a0.82 -b -T360 -P -m1 -p210x300 -L my 899 210x300
Paper chosen is custom 210.0 x 300.0 mm
Patches = 899
Test patches per row = 30
Rows per page = 30, patches per page = 900
Rows in last strip = 30, patches in last row = 29
Total pages needed = 1
Worst case delta E = 10.147448
Worst case direction distinction delta E = 51.676253

This is the jpg just to show you the chart.

I don't know if i will succedd to read the chart without problems i will let you know.

Ok i think i reach the maximum that in an A4 sheet is it possible to print, 930 patches on 1 x A4 sheet, now i have to verify if i can read them with the i1pro

I have merged the patches on an A4 file previously created, the argyll note on the right side is out of the sheet, but i suppose it is not used for the scan process.

I will try to see if an A4R will keep more patches

./profile_my_930_patches_on_A4.sh

again final A4 with 961 patches, no letters, just one little dot on the top/left of the A4 sheet, repeat i don't knwo if it will be scanned from i1pro with success, i will try maybe tomorrow i will have my i1pro here, i will have to make a ruler for it, i hope i can do it easily and then i will try to scan some patches printed with another laser printer, just to verify i can read them, if i can do i will print with my Epson XP 15000 and i will scan with the i1pro

Now some hints how to create the A4 for this sheet:

1) open an A4.tif file create with the normal patches
2) copy from 211x310 tif file the white space under the patterns (the bottom part) and paste on the top of A4.tif for removing all the letters for the rows
3) copy from 211x310 tif file the full chart (just the patterns) and paste on the A4.tif and put in the center, so top/left/right/bottom have all the same white spaces
4) put a little black dot in top/left area outside the pattern reading path on the A4.tif, this is just to remember where to begin to scan
4) save the A4.tif

./profile_my_961_patches_on_A4.sh

Now some general questions about scanning,

how i scan the rows ? i mean i see several video but all about colormunky, the i1pro usually comes with a ruler to link the spectophotometer and it then scan horizontally, now i don;t have the ruler, i can build one, but how i move the spectophotometer, in its rulers it is perpendicular to the sheet, while colormunky scan parallel to the row, if i scan parallel to the row it will work ?

i know i have to move within patches in costant mode, right ?
