Has anyone on the forum used OCP pigment ink in their Epson printers? I have been using their dye based inks in an Epson 1400 with excellent results but would like to know how their pigment ink performs in relation to the Epson original ink. I also have a Epson R2400, just waiting for refillable cartridges and then sourcing ink supplies.

I will recommend you to use Image Specialists inks (pigmented inks) which are the most used among epson owners, I tried them my self once and I have to say the results were really impressive compared to the OEM inks, the only down side is that you will loose some of the gloss you get with OEM inks (about 20% less) which I personally think is not bad at all when you compare the saving. If you print on non gloss media you won't even see a diference.

I second lolopr1. I am using an Epson Pro 3800, which happens to use the same inkset as the R2400 and using the IM-K4 inkset and the results are pretty impressive, even with the canned Epson profiles. The gloss is a bit less, but still satisfactory even on glossy papers.

Thanks Irv, yes OCP lists pigment ink for the R2400 - and for the other Epson pigment printers, the question is, has anyone used these inks and been impressed with the results? Here in the UK, OCP in small quantities not easy to buy, only one firm selling compatible cartridges filled with OCP ink - Internet-ink.co.uk BUT the cartridges they sell for the R2400 are filled with OCP dye ink!!! Has anyone used the OCP pigments inks, if not then its either Image Specialists or Jon Cone to try.

Hi johnpeeay,

could you tell me the fade resistance of your OCP Epson 1400 dye inks ? I have tested a cheap Colorgraph CISS and though the colour fidelity and prints were pretty impressive, the prints faded considerably after 2 months when facing the window.

John, check out Promax Imaging on your side of the pond, they rep OCP in UK & EIRE.

I used their excellent dye ink in my Canon 9xxx's for the last decade, I'm waiting for their pigment ink for the Epson 3880--might then consider one.

Hi Pharmacist, have put a couple of OCP dye prints from the 1400 on a south facing window of our summerhouse to see if they fade over the winter. Will report back on this test next year.Hopefully there will be some sunlight here in Scotland over the coming year!
