I recently bought a refill kit (Ink and blank cartridges) from MIS for my 1100d printer. This printer has the individual giant color tanks 10 black, 11 C/M/Y, and has a separate printhead for each color. The printer has only had the starter carts and one full set of OEM carts run through it (the colors are all still at around 50%, only the black ran out). I filled and installed the black cartridge, and it ran for about 70 pages, but then started streaking and finally jammed up, saying 'Replace defective black printhead'. I removed the printhead and found that there was a large amount of dried black ink all over the printhead. I cleaned it off, but it still did not work. I then soaked it in a 50/50 solution of warm water and household ammonia. This cleared it out for about five prints, though the print quality was not good, and then it gave me the 'damaged printhead' error again.
I will be calling MIS tomorrow, but if anyone has any suggestions on how to solve this, please let me know. I had pretty good faith in their products, but now I'm not so sure. I'm hoping I can get a refund from them, so I can at least buy a new printhead and OEM cartridge if I can't get the printer working again. I was planning on doing large print runs, however, and OEM ink, even though far cheaper than any other inkjet out there, is still too far out of my price range.
