MX7600 deceased

Dear fellows,

This afternoon my good old Canon MX7600 All-in-one pigment printer died of the B200 disease after serving me 7 years with over 20.000 pages.
The dead was expected sooner or later since the nozzle check showed a lateral displacement in the cyan nozzles, an indication of electrical disfunction (attached).
Since an EEPROM print this summer showed the ink pads almost full, I replaced it by the spare I bought 2 years ago (for € 10).
Based on the EEPROM data attached ( D=017.4, 1253 pages) and the clean nozzle check I hope this machine will serve me many years again.

Considering the problems you were having with the MX7600 I'm impressed you managed to get it through to two years..

As they say "The MX7600 is dead... long live the MX7600"

... well they do it they're printer nerds with a little medieval history thrown in

It is happy with it's special ink cocktail now.
Since I started refilling with this machine, I am attached to this rumbling and shaking beast.
The IX7000 A3 version I donated (since really too big) is still in use by the guy's kids to print coloring plates.

On another note my iX7000 always suffers from some clogs in the black side of the head, it just doesn’t seem to like any of the 3rd party black inks I’ve tried in it, OEM worked fine but out of the question, it’s now semi retired..

I always had a doubt the printhead was really made for pigment, or that it was a converted dye.

I run it without clogs with 9500 inks

7BK: Prodinks MBK
9M: Prodinks M
9PBK: Image Specialist (the old set)
9Y: idem Y
9C: idem C
9Clear Canon OEM (costs only €10/200ml)

The Clear is a kind of gloss optimiser and the reason why I bought the printer in the beginning.
It makes the prints looking more like a laser.

With high quality paper (Double A) the advantage is less.
I could print the documents (10 years validity) with the PRO9500, but I'll miss double side.

In addition it copies/scans double side with a sheet feeder.

If I want the same refillable I have to look to another brand.
