Thank you all for your help. A genuine Magenta cart and a few deep cleans has solved the problem, it's now printing beautifully. I'll call Octoinkjet to see what they say.Okay... based on what I can determine from the photos I think there's a dual issue at work here.
- The Magenta cartridge in use probably has a build up of pigment sludge on the internal filter mesh that sits above the outlet sponge and this is restricting ink flow.
- Given that the use of OEM carts (presumably with OEM ink in) the fact that the issue doesn't disappear indicates that the sludge has also permeated into the printhead and is probably blocking the magenta channel as well.
So... a few remedial courses of action..
First off, it's worth keeping in mind that the printhead may already have some damage to the nozzles so this may be a bit late but still worth trying to recover it. That aside..
- Clean the printhead manually using cleaning solution and a whole heap of borrowed patience as per:
- Consider purchasing a fresh batch of the magenta ink or at least start using your most recent 2024 batch (if my records of orders is correct)..
- Flush your Magenta cart using cleaning solution then rinse throughly with deionised or distilled water, removing all the solution between each clean/rinse. Then re-prime as per:
Assuming you manage to clean out the printhead and remove the sludge from the filter you should find that ink flow resolves itself but again just remember the printhead may be a bit past help.
Thank you again.
