Well, I finally saved enough cash and sprung for this expensive printer. I hope to print a lot in the upcoming year, and I'd like to know peoples experience with this printer, and who is having great results with non-OEM inks.
I live in Canada so some brands may not be available here, but would like to know of other people's experiences and results

Congrats. It's supposed to be awesome. After some research on color accuracy and fading I ordered Forulabs inks from alotofthings.com. Can't really endorse it yet since it's not arrived yet...

However, I can say that from what I read it sounds best, a ggod place to start testing inks.

Find my other post for some links you might find useful.

I'm having excellent results so far with the alotofthings bulk inks i've purchased. So far I haven't experienced any clogs, banding etc.
The colors are vibrant and matches OEM prints too.
So far, I am using the cyan, magenta, and yellow inks from alotofthings, and my photo black and pigment black are still OEM.
Alotofthings doesn't ship to Canada, so you might try letting a friend in USA order it for you and have it delivered to you.

I'm trying to find a dealer who sells Formulabs ink in Canada, but no luck so far.
Any Canadians here who know where to find it?

Thanks

If you contact Sensient Imaging they will give you a phone number for a distributor in British Columbia, however they seem to be quite pricey. Eg. $160 to 230 per gallon of pigmented ink for HP. Besides that I am still searching for a cheaper supplier of Formulabs ink myself.

It would be much cheaper to purchase straight from sensient since it falls under Nafta. There inks are made in Mexico.

Good Luck with the continued search.

Manuchau,

With his Spectrophotometer Grandad made custom printer profiles for his i9900 printer for the following inks: Formulabs, New InkGrabber, Old InkGrabber and Atlantic (Image Specialists?). They are published in the "Printing Photos and Photo Software" Forum.

On my iP8500 printer (same 8 inks as the i9900) I tried Grandads profiles on BulkInkJetCarts #2 and the Old InkGrabber profile produced excellent colors.

If you use Grandads inks you could use his profiles and get the best possible colors.
