Is this an alignment problem ?

This is how we learn how these printers work and applications work. You have to keep trying various things until you understand the patterns.

If you specified plain paper in both cases, then we can understand why the pigment black was used in the first case, and although it is surprising that dye black was used in the second case, it appears that the PS Easy Photo Print Plugin overrides your specification and assumes (I would guess, because it has to do with photos) that you are using a photo paper.

I agree 100% with you (it has to do with photo's), infact that's the reason why it always loads the paper from the back tray and not from the bottom tray

I did further tests and yes Easy photo Print never uses pigment cartridge

This is the first I have heard that an application can decide where to get the paper from. I don't think any of the older printers do that.

Very strange indeed

maybe cos it's a PHOTO tool so it's used to print on photo paper ???
