Since Canon no longer keeps overview information on their website........GRRRRRR......I don't know how they compare. I've owned both.

I can pick up a 4300 NIB for $125. What will I miss out on not being the iP4500? I don't care about printing on CD's. What are CD's, anyway?

(CD's. One of the shortest lived formats in audio history. Pretty much dead after some forty years. Compare to vinyl.)

The iP4300 and iP4500 are mechanically very similar. The main difference is the printhead used.

The iP4300 uses the QY6-0061 printhead and the iP4500 uses the QY6-0067 printhead or the replacement type QY6-0075. The difference is in the number of nozzles.

The iP4300 has PGBK, cyan and light cyan, magenta and light magenta, yellow and photo black nozzle sets. The iP4500 has PGBK, normal and medium and light cyan, normal and medium and light magenta, yellow and photo black nozzle sets.

My several old factory heads are of the 0075 type. Molded into the plastic. I wonder why Canon would have two heads for the same printer and function. I'm aware that often the heads for, say, Japan, are different from North America.

I've read that the original printhead for the iP4500 the QY6-0067 was fragile. A less fragile replacement type the QY6-0075 was then introduced.

Canon has updated the printhead of several printers during the last years. For instance, the QY6-0055, original printhead for the Pro-9000, was replaced by the QY6-0076 when the Pro-9000 MkII was released. The new printhead was compatible with the 'old' Pro.9000 MKI but, apparenty, the old printhead wasn't compatible with the new Pro.9000 MkII.
