insight on refilling

Ok good to know about double sided cardstock, will just have to print on side , flip and print from tray.

Maybe i should have said best value rather than economical, since the double sided cardstock printing is out, ill re take a look at the Maxify series.

If this is the card stock you want to use then you may experience problems with the Maxify I posted info from its User Manual.
 
ah yes, i am going to lok at finding a lighter weight cardstock, but its still going to be in the 55lb range id guess....still an issue.
Double sided , asdie, anymanufcaturers that can handle cardstock"normally"?
 
I purchased a Maxify MB2720>
Initial thoughts, it much bigger than i expected( not sure what i expected) but that is neiother here nor there.
It was a PITA to setup wirelessly, took and hour of speaking with CS to finally get it to work by instaling the printer manually. Camr to find out the driver package i downloaded from the recommended site listed in the paperwork

Paper trays are a bit akward, they come out and must stay when full(extended to hold letter)>
I understand that these arent supossed to handle cardstock, BUT my previous Borther 480 was either and it did without issue.(one sided)
This one wouldnt feed cardstock at all (not a huge suprise) but now i realize how much i do need that ability, this one is going back(to Amazon)

So i did a bit of a search...seems one of the highest rated printers under 200 for cardstock are the Canon iP8720 or Canon Pixma iX6820.
It appears i can find ARC chips for either.
Any opion on either of these?

There are swings & roundabouts out there, so you must choose one of them and not both, the Maxify is the best in its class and has everything that a refiller can ask for.

It will print on 280 gm photo stock, but not necessarily on the weight you wish to use, so it’s a pity you sent it back in haste. Good luck with your continued search.. :hu

Heavy Cardstock printing is an absolute must. I work with an animal tracking/trapping and rescue group and we print someimes hundereds of flyers on (110lb) cardstock.( that is donated to us by a local organization) i/we dont have a choice in weight.
The Maxify may be the best in its class, but it doesnt print on the stock i need it to print on...
 
Initial outlay will be more expensive than an inkjet but if you print a lot you will save money longterm. When making a decision if you had an idea how many pages you print per week / month. Then consider the page yields of the inkjet printer in comparison to the laser printers. For example our office laser printer the HP LaserJet Pro 200 Color M251N has 4 colours toners https://printerinkcartridges.ie/cf210x-multipack-4-1-free that print approx 1800 pages. We print approx 140 pages each week so it makes sense to have a laser.

thanks for that, a question...when it is stated " Ink Volume: Black - 2400 Pages, Colour - 1800 Pages" is that assuming a certain percentage of the page is being printed on in that color?

IE if i print a page with a single line of color across the top it isnt the same as a single page covered margin to margin in the color.
How are then numer of pages that can be printed determined?
 
additioanlly, any other sites than the ones you have posted that you recommend for sourcing either Carts/ink or toner( if any) alibaba?
 
Another Printer that is easy to refill with third party inks is the Pro 10 and it will print heavy cart stock manually with no trouble at all…
P.S. Any cartridge feed printer will not handle very heavy cart stock.. :oops:
