Hello, I just bought InkTec ink for my Canon MP640. In particular it is related to the PGI-520BK/CLI-521BK/C/M/Y.

I have read around here some problems with the pigment InkTec ink with waste pads.

Does anyone know if this problem has been corrected or is all the same in this regard?

KMP Universal is recommended?

Thanks.

Read all about it here. I don't have an answer yet on the other pigment inks that I will be testing.

Red John, perhaps you did not see all that was reported by ghwellsjr. He said that ink was no longer sold by Inktec. I have used pigment black ink from Inktec and I have no problems. This was probably in 2nd half of 2009. Actually the ink was pretty good. It was very dark and it printed fairly close to OEM.

I heard that KMP universal is not that great. But I never used it myself. Better ask Pharmacist to answer this question.

I will soon be starting my tests on the pigment inks listed in the link on post #2. It will take about three months for the final results.

He talked about KMP for PGI-5, not KMP Universal in that thread. It seems to be a great ink too. The Hat endorsed it already.

I'll bet you 50 cents Phamacist has never purchased or used the more expensive KMP PGI-5 ink.

(How did you get the idea that he was not talking about the KMP Universal ink?)

Pharmacist talked about KMP pigment black ink. I don't remember him mentioning Universal. That is probably why it is asked how the cheaper KMP Universal works. Hum... 50 cents bet. I will guess that he never used the cheaper Universal one.

Just to confirm I use this universal KMP black pigment ink for my Canon BCI-3eBK, PGI-5, my friend's PGI-520/220 and also in HP black ink cartridges. The results are indeed very good, actually I cannot see why one would use the more expensive PGI-5 version.
