How to generate a simple RGB printer profile using ArgyllCMS and the CR30 colorimeter/spectrophotometer

I have another question: I have seen patch targets that are in portrait and others in landscape. When reading the patches with CR30, which direction shall I follow? My understanding is that patches must be read:
1) All A (column or line) from 1 to the last number
2) Then all B (column or line) from 1 to the last number
And so on up to the last Letter (column or line) from 1 to the last number.

Is it OK, or shall I read the patches in column, whatever the orientation (which seems weird)?

Hello guys,

Searching for printer calibration, I found this (very interesting) thread yesterday and I think that I have understood the whole process. However, would you be so kind to confirm my understanding:

Assuming you use windows you would be better off using the powershell script here and also check my post which details how to generate your own targets and generate .ti3 files from the command line with an awk script.

- I think the latest Argyll has a bug and it may be better to regress a bit.
- why can't someone post the target files directly if you are all using the same ones? They're just text and a tiff, no?

We are not all using the same ones. The required patch size depends on if you are using a guide and its pitch. Then you have paper size to choose then how many patches you can be bothered to measure and how many you want to allocate to greys.

I posted a few batch files to generate targets. They are not hard to modify.

You will be welcomed on the Argyllcms list, it's doubtless of interest to you! Here is where the bug descripton starts in this month's archive, and a few posts down there's a workaround. Myself I always forget everything so I would regress a bit to an older version, to avoid making a mistake the next time I run the code, but then I'm just old and was never smart.

A lot of people aren't programmers and it's very often helpful to them to post actual data files. Seriously. Also, example files show you what you are doing when you sit down to mod a script.
