One Question for you

How do you overcome the head clearance problems with the 4950
while using the OEM cartridges and not the smaller CISS cartridges..?

I'm sorry, I do not know, what it is "the head clearance problems"?

I was referring to the gap between the top of the cartridges and the printer body.
When you have the tubing attached to the top cartridges there is even less room.

The gap is about 5 mm. I'm using 3 millimeters. There is no problem. :)

Some newer Canon printers have a gap of only 1 mm. If you have one of these printers, you will need to cut the printer casing to make the gap bigger.

Thank you very much for a most interesting and educational thread. :thumbsup

I am very impressed by your use of common objects like ball point pens in stead of hard to find special CISS parts. I have an HP Photosmart printer, that is very much like Canon printers. I would like to build a CISS for that printer, using your ideas. Just for educational purposes :)
