As far as a new 3D printer is concerned they’re all using the new direct feed to their hot end and this is a no, no for me, because it makes changing filament colours a lot more difficult.
I prefer to use the Bowden tube which I found much easier to feed new filament in for a quick change around, I even discounted using Capricorn tubes because they are not see through.
I don't follow you here.. Why do you think it's more difficult to feed filament in direct drive extruders ?. Have you tried?. I assure you that, if anything, it's easier because there's no Bowden tube in-between the spool and the filament entry on top of the extruder. I do it all the time with prints that have a color change at different layers. It's a fast and very simple procedure.
