@Laserowl, The Pro 1 needs no special looking after, the beast is best served by using it as much as possible, everything else is taken care of by the printer, you just keep it feed with ink and it will perform to the highest standard.

All the new Canon Pro printer range like to be at their best so don’t be alarmed by a few cleaning cycles, that is to be expected, because it likes to be ready to produce your beautiful photos for you every time.

If you download the print driver or have the CD, it has a help me guide for just about any print situation, and the Service Manual is just that (For service) it doesn’t contain anything about printing and is not readily available anywhere, Canon don’t want you looking under the bonnet/hood.

You can run the printer on OEM inks, which is best especially if your selling the prints, there are 3rd party inks available at reduce cost, but you’ll need profiles for any photo paper you’ll be using, the best advice is use it first and get to know it, then think about alternative inks later.

Fiddle with this printer and it will bite you back, it’s not like other printers, it needs to be left alone to print, it will tell you when it wants something, it is quite intelligent, so please remember you’re only the passenger not the driver...

@TheHat thx for the advice, having read your posts interested in possible installation of a potty. But not in any rush to go delving into the inner reaches of the beast.
