Hi Guys,
Just a short note to let you know that I am out of town at the moment but will be trying out all your suggestions when I get back home at the end of the week.
Thanks for all your advice and I will report back with the outcome.

Kind Regards,

John

OK guys,
The latest update is that Canon are taking my word that the head need replacing and if I send them a copy of my receipt and the Serial number they will send me a new print head. The printer is under warranty until 18th of April so I am just in time. Thats great.
I will instal the new print head and then I can get to work on carrying out all the advice that I have been given here by you guys and hopefully I will end up with a spare print head.
I will let you know the outcome.

Hi Guys,

Well here I am back to you with my continued tales of woe.
Canon sent me the replacement print head and all went well for a few days.
Then back to the same problem with the PM not showing on the check print nozzles checks. Blue hue etc. etc.

I returned the printer to my local canon repair people but took the inks out so that they would not know i was using 3rd Party inks.
They returned it this morning (direct to my house) with a note saying that all is now well and that it is printing properly having cleaned and tested with Canon inks. They left a note not to use 3rd party inks.
While this was ongoing I emailed Compuzbiz, whom I bought the inks from, and asked them if there could have been a problem with the inks. That was 4 days ago and I have not yet received a reply. That does not look good.

So my bottom line and my question to you experts.
Can you recommend (100%) a 3rd party ink supplier (that will ship to Ireland) that will supply ink that will not clog by printheads any more likely than Canon originals? Perhaps this is not a fair question, but one I will try anyway. I just cannot afford to run Canon original cartridges with the amount of printing I want to do.
One way or another I think I will stop using the bulk inks that I have from Compubiz.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Perhaps this is a question that has been asked a million times over on the forum and maybe you could give me a link to topics that have dealt with this.
I was looking at the bulk refill system that Media Street sells. How good are Media Streets inks?

Kind Regards,

John

Epson, Canon, HP... A "few"
MIS, Formulabs... all pretty good.

I'd offer to send you some of the spare Canon (Image Specialists) ink I have here but unfortunately for you I don't need the PM or PC inks so I don't have any in. I could see if my supplier will send me a small supply as a favour (they normally supply only in litres) if you like..

Does sound rather like your own ink isn't all that great though...

Hi Websnail.

That is very kind of you and I do appreciate the offer. If it was not too much trouble that be great.
I just want to make sure that 2nd time around I use the "Very best" 3rd party ink.
Is that fact that my nozzle check has only been showing problems on the Photo Magenta means that this ink is the only one with a problem and perhaps I could continue to use the other colours (as I have a large supply left).
Or is it best to switch totally to a diffferent supplier?

Kind Regards,

John

If it's just the PM that's giving you grief I can send you the one I got with a return I bought up a ways back.. Some n00b put a PM into their iP4000 instead of the standard M cart..

I've no use for it so you're welcome to it in the interim.

To John Cox,

You certainly will not go wrong with Formulalabs or MIS inks. These inks have always gotten rave reviews on these forums---in terms of trouble free performance and very close to Canon OEM color balance.

One ink also worth mentioning is from hobbicolors--and they do international shipping but a pay pal account or knowing someone with a pay pal account may be required.---they mainly vend on ebay so just type hobbicolors on the ebay search bar. The extra charm of hobbicolors are the very cheap virgin empty cartridges they also vend with a screw seal.

Hi Websnail,

That would be great.
My email address is Irishweather@hotmail.com. If you email me I will give you my address for you to post it to me. That would get me up and running in the meantime.

Kind Regards,

John
