- What printers do you currently have (manufacturers / models): I currently do all of my printing with a Canon Pro-10S, but I have also used the Epson ET-8550. I plan to get an Epson P906 for my next printer (within the next year).
- If you had one wish, which printer would you want: My primary wish would be for a refillable pigment ink A2+ printer, like a jumbo 8550 with 10 or 12 color channels. My biggest requirement after overall printer size and print quality is the stability of the inks — I want my prints to outlast me by some margin, so dye inks are a no-go for me.
- What experiences do you have with refilling and/or tinkering with printers: I purchased my Pro-10 second hand and it came with a load of Octoinkjet inks plus all of the paraphernalia for refilling the cartridges, which I did until I ran out of ink refills. "Compatible" ink is absolute rubbish and you cannot change my mind about that (with the exception of niche b+w conversions). Besides, with the availability of the ET-8550, there is now absolutely no reason that I can see to use compatible inks for printing A3+ or smaller. Now I use OEM cartridges when I can find them cheaply, otherwise I refill my PGI-72 cartridges from the larger PGI-29 cartridges. I also use extra Canon Lucia ink to refill my Pilot V5 Hi-Tecpoint Cartridge System rollerball pens!
- Any other info you'd like to share about your education, work, or hobbies: I'm a landscape photographer and I am very particular about paper — the paper selection is nearly as important as the image or the ink. Hahnemühle Photo Rag Metallic is my favorite, as well as being the one that surprised me the most. I don't think of a photograph as being "complete" until I bring it back into the physical realm by printing it.
