Hi, printer is rejecting compatibles :(
I've downloaded WicReset (who want a tenner for a key) to try to downgrade my firmware to ER1382 (13/02/2008).
I was wondering whether anybody could tell me whether there is a free way of doing this manually, and if so, where I mgiht find the firmware?

Thanks!

Before you assume it's the firmware try removing the printer driver completely and then download and install the original/old printer driver.

I can't remember what I used recently to do a proper driver delete so here's what I found that may be of use:
http://help.wfu.edu/public/file-pri...a-printer-and-driver-from-windows-7-and-vista

http://www.pcworld.com/article/246041/how_to_uninstall_drivers_in_windows.html

Obviously keep the printer disconnected while you do all that and also stop windows update downloading the latest driver automatically.

Once you've installed the old driver, disable status monitor as well by going to your printers "printing preferences"
> maintenance tab
> Click "Speed & Progress"
> Tick the "Disable status monitor version 3.0... " or whatever
> Apply/OK

With a little luck that may stop the printer driver getting in the way which is something that's been reported recently. Can't remember if it was on here or not but it's worth a shot.

Beyond that, in terms of firmware rollbacks, not aware of any other method barring asking a service centre to help.

Hope the above helps though.
