Hi everyone,

I'm new to the world of refillable cartridges and third-party inks, and I’d really appreciate your advice.

I own an Epson P900 printer (purchased in Venezuela), and I’ve been using it for high-volume printing. I'm now considering switching to refillable cartridges and compatible inks to reduce costs, but I have a few questions:

  1. How can I verify what version (US, EU, etc.) my Epson P900 is? I assume it's the US version, but I’m not entirely sure.
  2. I have several original Epson cartridges, some used and some still new. All of them have chips that worked fine in my printer. Is it possible to reuse any of those chips on refillable cartridges (e.g., the ones sold on AliExpress or other stores)? Or are those chips locked after use?
  3. I've read about chip resetters—how exactly do they work? Would any of the resetters available online work with the chips I already have?
  4. Also, what’s the general recommendation between using resettable chips vs one-time chips or ARC chips (auto reset chips)? Are the AliExpress chips reliable for long-term use?

Thanks in advance for your help and any insights you can share. I’m still learning and don’t want to make a costly mistake.

  1. I cannot reply to this topic since I don't know
  2. I also use OEM chips I took from Epson cartridges and put them on refillable cartridges from Aliexpress and reset them when filling the cartridges ( I usually refill all cartridges at the same time when 1 is empty ). As long as the original cartridges was not printed to absolutely zero level (red alert) it can be reused.
  3. my resetter works with the original chips I received with my used p900. (I have the EU model)
  4. when your original Epson chips work I see no reason to invest in new chips beside you want a second set of cartridges without fiddling the refill process when on of your first cart set is empty
  5. you can even refill original Epson cartridges after a modification of their valves.
the user pharmacist documented a lot of his work on his p900 like here:

I can confirm even the so-called one-time chips can be perfectly reset with the resetter. There are no auto reset chips available: either use the original chips or one-time chips and use the resetter to reset the chip to full.

The only thing is to be make sure your printer has NO firmware that makes resetting impossible (US printers). Maybe there is chipless firmware available making a a bit easier to deal with.
