Paper availability depends on the region you are living in, I'm not using that Kodak paper - but amongst others a Tecco PG230 glossy paper http://tecco.de/wp-content/uploads/datasheets/Drylab/6982_DRYLAB_PG230_EN.pdf and I'm not specifically into B/W printing. I probably would look for special inks like http://shop.inkjetmall.com/Shop-By-Ink/Piezography/ for a test.
http://piezography.com/ or another company https://www.inksupply.com/blackandwhite.cfm offering b/w inks. I don't have experience with dedicated B/W printing

I'm using A4 sheet paper, with the Ultraglossy photo setting for which I created icc - color profiles.

Just checking in a year later. I should mention that I also print with an Epson 9800 and an HP Z3200.

This is a SUPERB little printer. I've printed several hundred images with this device and the only reason my prints don't look great is ME. Easily fixed by diligent application of Photoshop, or better photography in the first place. :)
Using glossy media from a big box supplier (Costco) and OEM inks, I figure my prints cost me about $.20 each. Pretty good!
My only regret is the size limitation, and we knew that going in, right?

I just bought a used one. Does anyone know how to disable the automatic shutoff timer? Mine shuts down after two hours or so of idle. In my other printer there is a setting for this, but I can't find it in the L800 driver.

It should be on the maintenance tab - printer and option information - set the power off timer to 'off' and send it. Power off.jpg

That's where it should be. What driver version are you using, It's missing in mine.

This is the exact option box that comes up when I click on that button. The timer option is missing. I tried driver 6.74 and 6.72
