Epson 9700 & 11880 Non OEM Ink

Dear Members ,
i'm writing my first thread
I have 3 epson wide formats printers
The first is Epson 9880 = I'm Using Non OEM Ciss and ink bought from OCP (Imported From Germany)
but i'm facing many problems with it 1)cleaning each one print so I'm losing time , ink and maintenance box 2)magenta low quality so the photo are non natural 3)and the most imporatant thing is that the ink doesn't dry I can Scratch it with my finger even after 10 minutes of printing (i'm using matte and glossy photo paper)


Lastely , I bought 2 wide formats printers
Epson 9700 5 colors
and Epson 11880 9 colors
I would like to install a non OEM Ciss and ink (No OCP) to both

a good color quality and scratch resistance

but the big problem that i don't find the ink for my epson 2 model (9700 & 11880)

I'm running a 7600 since a long time with various pigment inks. The scratch resistance is very much an issue with the surface/coating of the paper you are using, and to some degree, but not the most of the ink. I recommend to test some other materials. Inks of different vendors have a different color reproduction, you would need an ICC profile for every ink/paper combination you are using. I'm not familiar with the availabity of inks in your country, but internationally operating companies like Lyson/Nazdar or Inktec should have alternate inks for your printer models available.

i dont' have problems to buy ink because i have many friends in europe and they can buy ink and ciss for me
but the problem i don't find a company ink that produce pigment ink for 11880 and 9700 (I would like Inktec for example )

With the printer units you are using you better should look for suppliers in the LFP - large format printing market segment

as far as I can see Inktec is not offering a compatible Ultrachrome K3 vivid ink, that should have a little bit greater gamut than the original K3 inks, but you should be able to run either one in your printers if you make and use the appropriate ICC profiles for/with your papers, but that would depend as well on the software you are using, some RIP software may either use standard ICC profiles or create profiles with their software for its sole use, such profiles could not be used with other printing software.

There is a supplier in the UK named OctoInkjet:- http://www.octoink.co.uk/ which should be able to supply all your needs. It is used by many Printer Knowledge members and has competitive prices. PK member websnail owns octoInkjet.

OctoInkjet supplies ciss systems and IS (Image Specialists) Inks.

In the Americas, Precision Colours:- http://precisioncolors.com also supply IS inks. PK member mikling owns PC.

Both companies supply non OEM inks for Canon and Epson printers.

The Epson Pro 11880 uses the K3 Vivid ink set, so the Inktec Powerchrome K3 is the one you should buy. It is much better compared to OCP K3 (better gloss, much better scratch resistent). Also the magenta is very pure, so you will get pure bright reds, oranges, blues and violets and has a much better gloss compared to the OCP magenta.

the question of scratch resistance is not that much a matter of the particular printer type and width, it can be the ink, yes, I admit that I was not that happy with OCP pigment inks either, for reasons of gloss. It could be that there is too much ink on the paper causing a long drying time, that could be a question of driver settings, max ink limits, missing linearization in case you use a RIP, or it could be that the paper, the coating is not best suited for pigment inks you are using. I think you should run some tests to exclude one or the other reason - e.g. testing another paper, and you are looking for other inks anyway. The Inktec Powerchrome K3 does not claim to provide the (slightly) extended gamut with magenta as the Epson K3 vivid inkset does, but it will print very well regardless, best with a ICC-profile. But there were already remarks here in the forum about this ink, the black is very glossy, shines pretty metallic in reflective light, I tested that ink set as well and can confirm it, the CMY pigments are o.k., I was not happy with the photo black ink at all. But there is always very much personal judgement in such descriptions.

I would not take the risk by using non oem ink to the 11880 but i will test for the 9700
could you plz past the link where they buy k3 pigment for the 9700 ???
