I think that the conclusion that no different chip numbers are used regionally is possible but not certain!
Attached I show in an Excel file that 5 of 8 carts I purchased in the US (5807 LK, 5809 LLK, 580A viv M, 5805 LC, 5804 Y) are not accepted by my Pro 3880 (purchased some months ago).
Three carts are accepted ((5808 MK, 5801 PK, 5802 C)
How can I solve this problem?
Thanks for your help!

I've been using the Cone chips on a set of refillable carts for a decade on a couple of 3880s that are still running well. The Cone chip must be matched to the ink cart that has the OEM chip placed under it. No resetter needed (other than the maintenance cart one).

One bug I found was at times the chip connections get a bit wonky. I brush them with a fiberglass scratch brush and a Q-tip with De-Oxit contact cleaner on it. One some the refillable carts with the stacked chips do not make contact with the connector in the printer and show a cart error on the display. I put a piece of fleece under the cart which raises it just enough and makes a connection and it's off and running again.

I've used a lot off different inks in them without issues. Dye inks seem to clog less, and the Vivid Magenta from Cone seems to clog the most if it sits too long. No problems with the B&W Piezo inks either, although I honestly saw no visible difference using them to a well calibrated printer, and it was a pain to go through all that QTR rip and calibration stuff and the spreadsheet and linear density rabbit hole. I also do not use or allow the printers to switch between Matte and Photo Black and just print everything with Photo Black and spray them or wax them afterwards. That keeps me from tearing into them to change that damn change-over ink valve (~$20 from China on Aliexpress) which often fails and leaves black ink smears everywhere when it goes south and leaks.

Sometimes they do show a clogged nozzle, but a cleaning and allowing it to sit a few hours and trying again - sometimes the next day - or another cleaning cycle much later clears it up.

Actually, the small office Epson ET-2750 printer/scanner/copier plugs nozzles more often than the 3880s and it uses bottled dye inks (I think?) which seems odd for dye ink.
